I usually get VERY pumped to make a project. Finish the map and GUI design, then get to the scripting and think "Wow, I'm bored." then save the project and never touch it again.
How do you stay motivated? I would love to hear, as I would love to finish a game.
Music works for a little while, until I get through the good songs.

If you need motivation you are doing it wrong. Roblox is about enjoying yourself. It is not a job. If you get bored of scripting I suggest you learn to build. The things you can make will astonish you.

I stay motivated because when I get finished with A3, I get to tear all of the 12-year-old Generals a new one in FEAR.

That's funny because I don't like building as much as I like (learning) to script...

Just think about how good the game/build will be when you build it. That should be able to motivate you.

I have fun scripting. Until the point of the project where I can't find anything to learn. I am only interested while there are things to learn.

You don't need motivation to work on a game if you really enjoy it. If you don't enjoy it, don't make it.

Well.. I love scripting. Until I hit a point where I don't know what to do or when I get stuck.

Dont script non-stop. Make a Little break every maybe 10 Minutes depending on your desires.

I find I don't get bored until I reach a task that feels too large to begin. Often what I'll do to keep the task from overwhelming me is break it up as much as I can, limiting each part to a different place. That let's me focus on getting one portion right before working on the next, and I can still jump between places, stay focused, and feel like I'm still moving forward.
Sometimes though, I simply have to put it down for a while. For me that usually means starting a new small project or digging up a past one until I get ideas to continue.
I've seen personally though what Quenty says in his post, the only ideas that I can continue for more than a month are the ones that are fun at their core, none of my places are highly popular currently, but I continue my starfighter game, for example, because the fighters themselves are fun to fly around with friends. |
