"Don't watch shippuden.."
Never planned on it. How it usually goes is that they make a pure series, i.e: Avatar: The Last Airbender, and then the fans get a hold of it, and they make something crappy and irrelevant, i.e: Legend of Korra. |

I find the concept of ninjas living in a partially technologically advanced world intriguing at best. Oh yeah, and the ninjas. Did I mention the ninjas? |

remove the comparison to TLA and Legend of Korra isn't too bad I just don't think it's a great direct sequel to the old show though |

I kinda don't like that they're using Aang's son as some kind of way to repopulate the airbenders because even if it works the monks probably won't be the same, they'd be changed by the, what, 150 years since their supposed extinction when the Fire Nation killed all of them except Aang? They almost certainly would have changed their ideas by then and probably wouldn't really be the peaceful monks they were at one time after they were changed by life in cities and the war against the anti-benders or whatever the hell |

Something I've never understood about the original AVATAR cartoon is how there were SO MANY damn Avatars before Aang, and they were still living in the middle ages. And then, through 1 generation, MAGICALLY CARS AND BLIMPS AND LIGHT BULBS.
It's BS to a tee. |

| Seriously, though, how do you go that long without inventing anything new? Aang was frozen for 100 years and when he came out, almost nothing had changed. |

light bulbs were probably gas lamps as demonstrated when Zuko lit all the lamps in the city with his firebending also the trains were pushed by earthbenders fire nation navy? you've got me there, i have no idea how they got giant metal boats like that |

| Yeah, but the gap of technological progress made between Aang's lifetime (100-something years after he was born) and Korra's (like, 50 years) is disproportionate. |

@kingdragon
I'm thoroughly convinced that shows like Dragonball Z Kai have all those noises and long stareoffs and 10 minute charge-up attacks to fill up their half-hour timeslot
i mean come on at least Avatar had some development in between big action scenes |

to be fair they did build Republic City and Toph(at least I think it was Toph) developed steelbending So they did make some advancement My guess is that everyone was just too busy getting invaded by the Fire Nation during the Hundred Year War |

@mikey dbz was made at the same time as the manga, so they had to put in lots of filler there was an edited version i think that removed all filler and crap |

seriously though if you have to put that much filler in then just use a 15 minute time slot instead of wasting all our time with "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH" and "*stares angrily as sweat drips off eyebrow*" i'm not saying it's a bad show but this is kind of ridiculous |

"to be fair they did build Republic City and Toph(at least I think it was Toph) developed steelbending"
In my opinion, and as cool as steelbending is, it should not exist. It isn't a heightened ability like blood-bending (or maybe it is, but less convincing either way).
"My guess is that everyone was just too busy getting invaded by the Fire Nation during the Hundred Year War"
True, true. But I'm still wondering what they were all doing in the time before Aang and LITERALLY the thousands of Avatars before him. Just sayin'... |
