Name: Krell Newtown
Weapons: Horse Pistol x2, Boarding Axe
Ship: Single-Masted Catboat (Broken Bowsprit & Jib) "Elan"
Gold: 1000g
Crew: 15

Mmmmm-CRACK!! Rumble, rumble.

Lightning surrounds you, as you grab the wooden railing of your ship, cling to the railing as if it were your only life line. It may possibly be.

CRACK!

The storm deepens, as water from the sea and the sky embeds itself into you. It seems you have as much blue below you as you have atop you. The only interruption to the constant rumbling of thunder and cracks of lightning is your crew around you, bilging out water and putting out fires as a handful of imps mercilessly prey on your ship, preying in with their tridents on your crew, lifting them up and dropping them into the drink.

The situation seems dire. Your single-masted sloop is being tossed around by the sea like a tennis ball in a tennis match and the conditions and imps are preying on your crew and nerves like a thousand blows to the stomach.

C-CRACK!

A lightning strike smashes into your bowsprit, completely dismembering it, causing your jib to fall loose. Your sloop isn't a sloop anymore. It's a catboat. Not an improvement when your ship isn't designed for it.

You stumble around on your raised quarterdeck, trying to keep a bearing on your balance-- with the sea tilting your ship extreme degrees at a time, it's hard to know where is down.

The ship's wheel somehow finds itself in your hands, turning around as the rudder gets tossed around like a ragdoll in the ocean. A little bit of nervous strength seems to be enough to pry it from the ocean's grip, giving yourself control of your ship... Or the direction it sails in, atleast.

Your quartermaster rushes up to you as he notices you grabbing the wheel--

"Sir! You're back! Ye've taken quite the tumble a moment ago! We thought ye's were out for good!" he says, as you watch a member of your crew help someone out of the water-- presumably put there by a wave or an imp

"I uhh--..." you murmur incoherently

"Sir! There's no time to lose! The men are having a hard time keeping her topside top! What're yer orders? We have the sea to worry about, the lightning and the imps. It isn't looking good for the Elan!" he says

What'll you do, ol' Captain?

"DROP THE ANCHOR!" Krell yelled over the raging tempest! "We lost the sail, so we're riding this damned storm out! Tie everything that isn't nailed down, and recover what's left of the mast!"

(Ill only post the character sheet when there is a change :) Just for future reference.)

"Aye aye captain!" your crew yells out to you.

You see them all scamper around the deck collecting the sail that was freed, taking down the mains'l and dropping the two anchors. The tempest doesn't seem to be letting up, and while your quick decision to conserve resources has preserved your ship from any more major damage, you're still in the middle of a storm with imps snapping up sailors and tossing em around.

After a few more moments, a massive wave crashes over your bow, washing over anything that bared to it. Your decision to take everything down proved wise.

"Sir! I don't know how much longer the sailors can bear this! The imps really proving to be an issue, and the storm don't make it much better!"

It's true. The storm is challenge enough for fifteen fit sailors on a half busted sloop. Imps only make the matters worse. While your could certainly take care of them, that'd take the whole crew's attention... Away from the storm.

"FIRST MATE, TAKE THE WHEEL!" Krell said, drawing his pistol. "SECOND MATE, BOATSWAIN, KEEP THIS SHIP AFLOAT! Everyone else, get yer muskets and pistols! On me!" Krell descended to the main deck and fired at the imps. "Stay away from the railings!"

You take your small assortment of men and take to the imps, all your men firing at them crazily-- hardly caring if a miss be the end or not. It's too stormy to really know.

Luckily however, with the barrage of muskets over, a few imps drop into the water, with a small pack of lead stuck in them. The rest however, decide to avenge their brethren and take right back to your men.

The imps seem to be able to parry your men at a ratio of three men to one imp-- yet there seems to be an imp instigating a 1 on 1 with you... You brandish your axe as it descends on you, parrying it's initial blow. How will you approach this fight?

Krell let the imp get close in and attack him first. The initial attack would be fended off by his axe, followed by a drawing of his second pistol and firing point blank.

You successfully guard the initial attack, swinging the imp off your axe and away. Your hand snaps to your pistol, taking a moment to aim then firing right into the imp, which gets blown back a few meters off the ship from the mighty impact.

The rest of your crew seems to be putting imps down left and right, and you even notice one proud sailor diving his cutlass right into the stomach of an imp. The imps don't seem to be too much of a problem anymore as the few left retreat.

"Yarr!" your crew shouts in celebration at the outturn of the fight.

CRACK!

Lightning strikes back near your ship, lighting a fire and reminding your crew of what's going on. They spring back into action.

"Sir, if we try, we can make some way into the storm! Should we hoist the mains'l?" your quartermaster tells you.

What'll you do?

"Get me the navigator!" Krell said, taking time to inspect the sky and the storm.

The navigator and his assortment of tools and maps rushes to you.

"Aye captain? What'll it be?" he says, awaiting your command

The sun seems to be completely absent of the sky, taken over by mercilessly black clouds. The sun is only seen as a small bright behind one of the deep clouds. The storm seems to steadily bound on your, making the seas incredibly unruly. You can't be sure if it's moving or it's isolated, so deciding not to move may prove useless for quite awhile, while if the storm is moving, hunkering down may be a good decision.

Krell pointed up at the sky. "What do you think? Is moving strong or will it hold?"

The navigator grips the railing of the ship, peering into the sky for a few moments as the elements swirl around viciously.

He takes a gulp for a quick moment then turns to you and says: "Its not moving a bit, sir."

"The nearest port?" your navigator nervously palms around his satchel for a few soggy maps, then suddenly comes to the realization without even needing to grab his map. "South!" he exclaims "About a few days South should get us to seeing a port!"

More or less:

Krell goes to quarterdeck, orders sails full mast

Directs ship with rudder to ride the westerlies in a curving southward direction

The ship's men hoist the only sail, and while it's quite a bit hard to handle, your ship seems to sail towards weather reasonably enough for you to make a diagonal path southwest. The drifting of the waters seem to bring you even close to your destination.

However, on the way to your destination you notice a fair size, uninhabited island nearby. Will ya go for it?

Krell asked the navigator to mark it down before leaving it behind in favour of the port.

The navigator does as you instruct, and you continue on towards the South.

A few days pass and your men have finished repairing the bowsprit. The relaying of the lines for the jib should be done by tonight.

Again however, your crew notices a few barrels floating around in the water.

Will you grab'em?

Your crew hauls in the barrels and finds that, while a number of them are empty or contain nothing but mundane supplies and water, a particular barrel contained nothing but a slip of paper.

A map.

While the map itself is incredibly detailed and articulate, and goes to a lengths to explain "something" is at the end of the route labelled on the map, there are no locations exactly laid out. Meaning you'd have to decipher the map itself and then take the route to this "something."

What'll you do with it?

Try to decipher the map on the way to port. Krell called his navigator, boatswain, and first mate to help him.
