I'm thinking of making a unique classic game. Classic meaning, the game will be simple and run on basically later 2010/2011 building and scripting, or does the game community crave advanced games too much? I think this would be an interesting idea.. but what does everyone else think?

Like work at a pizza place before it was updated to have more up-to-date mechanics.

Depends on the game idea.
IMO simple games are not dying out, they're just sharing more and more space with higher quality games. |

It's going to be a simple zombie apocalypse game. Or should I have a better idea? (the old L4D game is a great example)

| I wouldn't make it a zombie apocalypse. The only way I think a game like this would be successful is if it introduced totally new content. |

I basically have no ideas.. I want to stay on the warfare side though. Maybe it could be a game where you breach, free hostages, and escort them out of the building to freedom, but in your way are other players on the terrorist team that have to stop you. I'm not sure how this could work though.

| Ehh, probably won't get popular to be honest. Too many games similar to that concept are already out there. |

I was talking about zombies.
Also, the hostage idea has already been done, but only once or twice. Look at Very Important Person for example. |

Thats not exactly what I had in mind, although VIP is pretty much my favorite game besides apoc rising. I mean, when the round starts, the terrorists spawn IN the building with the hostages already there, the terrorists have to lock them down so the SEALs cannot get in. The hostages are actual people, BTW

Bottom line
A good with old mechanics like this aren't going to work unless you know exactly what you want to do, and do it very well.
You seem pretty unsure of yourself or what you're building, so I'd recommend going and finding a great idea and then doing it. |

I just will hate to see it fail, profit or not. I've never even made an actual game. I'm not expecting an extremely popular game.

Here's my advice: Make your game.
Even if you fail, you will gain valuable experience, and knowledge about making a game. Next time you make a game , you'll know what works and what doesn't. |
