"Architects describe themselves on their spotify page as screamo so that's what they are. Basically screamo identifies to alot of bands and genres"
You realize that anyone is able to falsely label themselves as any genre and just because they do it, doesn't make them that genre? That's the case with Screamo and Architects. Besides, Screamo isn't even Metal, so that would already prove that Architects aren't Screamo. Screamo is its own genre that came from Emocore. It's not an umbrella term to describe multiple genres or anything with screamed vocals. |

| I don't have to watch their interviews and read any of their articles to know they aren't a Screamo band. I've listened to their music. I can tell it isn't Screamo. |

| Just listening to a band doesn't prove anything. I could say that uh, Of Mice and Men is Alternative Hardcore Rock. Doesn't mean it is, that's just what it sounds like to me. Quit getting butthurt |

Listening to a band proves everything. If I didn't listen to Architects, I wouldn't know what they were. But since I did, I can identify what they are. But except I know that Of Mice and Men are Post-Hardcore and not Alternative Hardcore Rock (isn't even a genre but ok). You think it sounds like Screamo because you don't actually know what Screamo is, m8 and i'm not butthurt. I'm pretty calm. |

| I think arguing with you is a tad stupid because we have different opinions but think each other's is irrelevant. Let's just take a long walk to ease things out okay? |

| Sure, I don't think I'd get you to understand what Screamo is anyways. |

| Leave it out please. We both have different opinions about what screamo is and what it's not. Doesn't mean either one of us is correct |

| Except I don't have an opinion. I think Architects are fine as a band but i'm just saying they're Metalcore, not Screamo. Not even on some tr00 elitist stuff y'know. |

According to you I don't have to read anything to know what it is. Just listening to the band is enough apparently to you.
I listen to an extremely wide range of music, I think I get a general gist of what screamo is. You however have a very specific definition of screamo that must be correct and that nobody else can break away from |

Listening to a band is enough to decide what genre they are.
I have a very wide range of music interests too, m8. All genres of music have specific definition and characteristics that describe the genre. Screamo is no exception to this. It's not even MY definition. It's the general description of what Screamo is.
"Screamo is an intense offshoot of Emo that began in the early 1990s. It merges the emotional lyrics and melodicism of Emo with the intensity, aggression and speed of Hardcore Punk. Songs tend to be short in length but complex in structure, often featuring many changes in tempo and rhythm. As such, the style shares some similarities with Powerviolence, another hardcore punk subgenre that developed around the same time. Important screamo bands include Saetia, Orchid, and pageninetynine. In later years the term "Screamo" has been used by the mainstream to describe modern Post-Hardcore and Metalcore bands, and as these genres are very different from the word's original definition many screamo fans have adopted the term "Skramz" as a classification instead to avoid confusion. The term "emoviolence", which has been used to describe particularly powerviolence-infused bands, is also used as an alternative name.
Screamo has continued evolving and introducing new stylistic elements since the genre's birth - in particular, many bands have integrated prominent influences and elements from Post-Rock into their sound. Popular examples of this include Envy and Circle Takes the Square." - |

I listen to the one from Amherst, Massachusetts. They play Emoviolence, basically Screamo fused with powerviolence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpS_1Mx78S8 |
