People have been asking for advice about how they can stop self-harming. Since this is so ####, I could not post it in group walls.
Self-harm Alternatives & Healthy Coping Skills: -The Butterfly Project (A very popular anti-### project) The rules are: 1. When you feel like you want to hurt yourself, take a marker, pen, or sharpies and draw a butterfly on your ### or hand. 2. Name the butterfly after a loved one, or someone that really wants you to get better. 3. You must let the butterfly fade naturally. NO scrubbing it off. 4. If you cut before the butterfly is gone, ###### killed it and hypothetically that person. If you don't cut, it lives and signifies progress. 5. If you have more than one butterfly, cutting kills all of them. 6. Another person may draw them on you. These butterflies are extra special. Take good care of them. 7. If you see anyone with scars and mark, draw a butterfly on them. -Are you feeling angry or frustrated? Do something ######### -Flatten aluminum cans -Hit a punching bag -Rip ######## pillows -###### (if you're alone or into something that'll muffle the sound) -Exercise -######## ######### objects -Clean -Swim
-Are you feeling depressed or unhappy? Do something that makes you feel comforted: -Light sweet-smelling #######. -Call up a friend and talk about nothing in particular -Take a ### ########### -Massage #### ###### into places you want to hurt -Read a good book (one that is not depressing or dramatic- it can really change your mood ############ -Watch TV or search the Web

(this is especially effective you burn often) -Bite into a ### pepper or citrus peels or chew on ginger root -Take a cold ########### -Jump around barefoot, stomping your #### on the ground -Focus on ############## your breathing or pulse- notice the way your #### maneuvers around and functions)
-Do you want to see ##### or scars? -Draw on yourself with red felt-tip pens or use red ####### paint. -Pour red food coloring over the area you want to ######### -Tattoo yourself using ##### (goes on as paste, leave it on over night and you can later pick it off as if you were picking at a scab. It leaves an #####-red color #######
-Do you need to focus? Working on something a good way to balance your mental energy. -Do something on you PC (play a game of #########, write a program, or create a personal home page) -Pursue a hobby you may want to fulfill that requires concentration -Attentively eat a snack (weigh it in your hand, feel it, look at the ###### details- what's the texture like? How does it feel? Smell? Is it sweet or tart?) -Choose an object in the room and examine it, then write a detailed description of it) -Choose an object and #### up with as many uses for it as you can
(It may seem unusual, but it's the unusual things that help)- -Scribble on many ###### of paper
-Write poetry, stories, journal entries, etc.

-Interact with other people
-Sing or play a musical instrument
