OOC post: Contains pointless question or statement that means nothing. Grows to be several pages long, people forget the already pointless topic and people start to talk about even more random things.

Roleplay: Contains a well-thought-out idea. Two bumps from the OP, one post from a potential participant, and then death.

If people were more committed to the actual roleplays and not constantly spamming pointless OOC threads, maybe there would be more of those "good roleplays" people are always craving.

Okay, once again, an OOC hater.

Let me put it like this

RP is a community, OOC is our way of communicating, sometimes its good, sometimes its bad, but who cares, we enjoy ourselves, which is what this forums is meant for.

So please take your ignorant statements out of here.

Thank you, have a nice day.

Soard, the community's always complaining about irrelevant threads (clan advertisements, in-game RPing requests/character sheets/information, etc.) yet they themselves post irrelevant OOC threads ("So I heard that blah blah blah", "I'm currently at blah blah doing blah blah", etc.).

It's one thing to complain about irrelevant threads.

It's another thing altogether to complain about the ones posted by newcomers yet embrace the ones posted by commoners.

And, this forum is meant to enjoy ourselves through RPing, not discussing topics that belong in OT. OT is meant for conversations that don't pertain to any other forum or ROBLOX.

I never saw you before I came back this summer, so I'm going to assume you've been here for about a year.

Let me put it like this: back in late 2008-early 2009, when I made my first post, and onwards through late 2013, the front page of roleplay consisted of a ratio of about 4:1 in terms of roleplays to OOC posts. Even if the roleplays were considered sub-par due to a recent influx of people that were new to the forum, it was occupied by roleplays and collaborations. OOC pages were fewer and reserved for more important occasions.

In my short amount of time here this year, I've noticed that the ratio has risen to more of a 3:2. Most of the OOCs are meaningless. And from what I've seen, people are posting on these and instead lacking the initiative to actually post creative roleplays that people will want to join.

I'm not an "OOC hater". I've never heard the term before, but it sounds presumptuous and overbearing. I'm an old-school roleplayer.

No, I will not take my "ignorant" statements elsewhere.

Yes, I will have a nice day.

OOC hater or not you had to make this thread to complain, even though you know as well as I that it will do nothing but incite argument.

So why even?

And glad you'll have a nice day.

Either you missed my point entirely, or didn't take time to read it through. I'm complaining because people are lacking initiative, creativity, the whole package. They need that to make roleplays, and not squander on discussing what reaching 1,000 posts is like.

That's really one of the OOC threads on the front page right now.

"even though you know as well as I that it will do nothing but incite argument."

99% of OOC threads incite arguments.

No, your point fell in to what I was saying, pointless to complain.

Your complaining does nothing but start arguments, you can't force creativity, you can't force people to RP, and you can't force anyone to do anything, therefore complaining about it does nothing on a website like this.

Since when is forcing any part of it? I'm not forcing anyone to do anything. I'm trying to make people aware of this problem, so that in the future less spam-esque OOC won't be posted.

Forcing is the only thing that would work, complaining does nothing, therefore force, which you can't do, is the only option left, therefore this thread is pointless.

If you refuse to recognize the significance of protest, then you're being ignorant and I have nothing more to say to you.

I recognize the significance of protest, but if you refuse to acknowledge that you have no power through anything on the internet then you are just as ignorant as you presume me to be and I am done speaking to you.

If we're going to get technical, this also counts as an OOC thread.

If you're going to Roleplay, then just Roleplay.
Ignore OOC threads if you don't like them or see them as a "problem".
It's not hurting anyone, and it certainly isn't going to cause the "downfall" of the Roleplay forum like some people might believe.
Seriously, just enjoy the forum and the threads that are good in your own opinion.

>The problem is, OOC generally takes the focus away from the RPs. Now, I don't expect people to RP 24/7, but OOC posters could at least host their *irrelevant* conversations in, say, a party or OT and leave room on the front page for RPs so they are less likely to be buried beneath the mass of OOC threads.

Okay tai, you list me people on RP who will actually go and hold a discussion on OT which is full of idiots and trolls most of the time.

That's like women going to discuss a baby shower in a bar.

OT can actually host some mature conversations. They're not all idiots and trolls.

And parties and piratepads are always an option. It's not that hard to round up some roleplayers to go chat on a PP or in a party.

And I'd also like to point out that half of RP's OOC conversations aren't even that mature or meaningful.

OOC is fun if its semi-relevant or if one posts them only on a semi-regular basis, but it gets to be a hassle if one posts overly pointless OOC threads over and over again.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

I like OoC.
It's how I let out all the weird when I'm not roleplaying (which is a lot), so when I do write/join a roleplay, I'm not completely stupid.
