Over the past few decades, Nintendo has created the top games. Since the 80's, Nintendo has been one of the most iconic gaming companies in the world. Of course, we don't need to get in to that. Ever since the release of the first Wii, Nintendo has reached a rough patch. Not because of the Wii's features, but do to graphics and game play, Nintendo has been dethroned. So here are some 10 reasons.
1-Graphics: Nintendo is going bankrupt mainly for this reasons. Games like Super Mario Galaxy (the first one) had some of the best graphics Nintendo made. Even the water looked right. Though, that was probably the only game Nintendo put fancy graphics in. Other games, like Zelda and Donkey Kong pretty much were cartoon-ish. If Nintendo were to use the style they used in the first SMG Game, they wouldn't be bashed for that.
2-Censorship: Another huge issue Nintendo has been criticized for are games. Nintendo is very, well, picky when it comes to games. Nintendo barely allows Call Of Duty, and has banned Mortal Kombat, among 99% of M rated games. Even when Call Of Duty is allowed on Nintendo consoles, the graphics are poor and they edit the game to filter out language and violence. Although being family friendly isn't exactly bad, it ruins Nintendo's chance of appealing to an older audience, which they've been longing for. Hopefully with the new Wii U, Nintendo will actually consider allowing the new Mortal Kombat, and a few M games. Another thing Nintendo should do is release more Super Smash Bro's. Nintendo has been famous for that once a generation game. They only release one per system, so they should consider making more.
3-Tournaments: This one is pretty much self-explanatory. Halo does tournaments all the time. They did one last year in fact. Nintendo hasn't done one since Mario Kart 7. And well, that wasn't really a tournament. It was basically "lets see who finishes in the shortest amount of time." Nintendo should consider making a Super Smash Bro's tournament, or perhaps revamp there Mario Kart tournament.
4-DS: Well, this one is basically obvious. This has been bashed ever since it was released in 2005. When I got my first DS, they actually recalled it due to a malfunction in the hinges. They sent us the DS Lite one year before it was released, and then recalled those. At that point, I was practically done. The graphics on the DS are basically the same graphics you would see on a Play Station one. Nintendo should probably just end the production of the DS system. They limit gaming possibilities, and cannot have good graphics.
5-Mario: Mario is Nintendo's flagship game. Though, Nintendo relies on him too much. Think about it, he had his own TV show, Manga comic, spin off games, actual games, not to mention they release about 5 or more Mario games per year. Nintendo should balance it out. Maybe make one Mario game per year, and allow Zelda or Final Fantasy to take the spotlight a little bit more. There's only so much Mario we can handle.
6-Become Universal: One thing that would make a lot of sense is if Nintendo could become like Sega. Sega hasn't released a console sense the Sega Genesis. They decided to become a universal company. Making games for XBox, Play Station and Nintendo. They were even featured in Wreck It Ralph, which garnered a TON of revenue. Nintendo is probably considering this route, because of the appeal factor. Imagine Mario on the XBox, or Luigi on the Play Station. It would allow good graphics, improve game play, and even give them less boundaries they had on the Wii.
7-Publish More Titles: I think another issue that hurts Nintendo is the lack of genres. Nintendo pretty much makes RPG and Platform, and once every console generation, they release a fighting game. Nintendo should probably broaden that aspect a little more. If they're so worried about being family friendly, why not release your own FPS game? Metroid can only stretch so far. I'm pretty sure Nintendo has a lot of ideas they can put to use.
Whelp, those are all my suggestions. Tell me what you guys think in the comments below. |

More Genres? They've already released a racing game, a strategy game, a fighting/strategy game, and are going to be releasing another hardcore fighting game soon. Speaking of which, Bayonetta 2 is pretty much the opposite of #2. I'm really not sure what you're talking about with the DS. That thing worked fine for me (I still have it) Also, there was only one Mario game announced at E3 this year. Mario Maker.
Also, Nintendo will never go third party. |

1-Graphics: Nintendo is the farthest of the big 3 from going bankrupt. Having less powerful hardware makes people not only try to get the most out of the system, but focus on more things than just the graphics.
2-Censorship: Nintendo is not the reason why people do not want to put games on their platform. It's the fact Nintendo's hardware is far different from the other consoles and they don't feel like they should port it over.
3-Tournaments: I've never seen a Halo tournament. Smash Bros International was a tournament during E3. MLG and other corperations that do tournaments are based around E-Sports like CS:GO, LoL, DOTA 2, and other games. SSBM still has a strong competitive scene.
4-DS: The DS was never bashed, it was critically acclaimed. It is quite close to being the best selling handheld, and the 3DS is the best selling handheld. I swear you are bating at this point.
5-Mario: Mario has multiple franchises, it's not like he has one game and has it yearly. It's usually every 2-3 years you see the same genre of Mario game. Mario Kart is a separate IP than NEW Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 3D. Nintendo also releases other franchises along with the Mario games, so this is just flat out false.
6-Become Universal: Sega had released 2 consoles after the Genesis, the Saturn and the Dreamcast, you are plain stupid. Why would Nintendo need to go multi-plat? Wii U sales spiked 666% in Europe alone due to ONE GAME, Mario Kart 8.
7-Publish More Titles: Nintendo publishes: Platformers, JRPGS, Action Adventure, Metroid-Vania, Puzzle, Party Games, Third-Person and First-Person shooters, Fighting games. Are you stupid?

| Umm, dude. They're announced several times they were going bankrupt due to poor sales. You guys are honestly making excuses. Yes, the DS has been bashed. Mainly due to poor graphics. Not to mention its been recalled several times. Halo has done tournaments. Several times, actually. You can look it up. I don't hate Nintendo, I think its under-rated. Nintendo would do better if it became third party. After Mario Kart 8 dies down, they'll start complaining and asking "Why are we bankrupt again?" |

| Also, you're forgetting Modern Warfare 3 was on the Wii. Mortal Kombat Armageddon was also on the Wii, but Nintendo banned it afterwards due to the violence. |

@raymond
Halo probably has unoffical tournaments just like SSBM
Sony is going to have to sell most of their company to stay alive. the only thing they have keeping them afloat is the playstation brand.

1.Graphics don't really matter in Nintendo's case. They're obsolete but they should still be tolerable
2.Nintendo is supposed to have a broad demographic. Check out Mortal Kombat II on the SNES and compare it to the Arcade version
3.This is extra-curricular.
4.It was a handheld made in 2005. It's not like SONY produced it. Besides you're fussing over something that was fixed and then you're going over the graphics. You OVEREMPHASIZE on them at this point.
5.They don't rely on it too much, like you said it's FLAGSHIP.
6." Sega hasn't released a console sense the Sega Genesis."
What the hell are you talking about? Sega's last console was the DREAMCAST, and there's been a console released between the two over that time that being the Saturn.
7.No really publishing more titles but making more genres is what you mean. |
