I know it’s been preached hundreds of times but
Immortal technique:
“How could this be? Land of the free, home of the brave Indigenous holocaust and the home of the slaves Corporate America: Dancing offbeat to the rhythm You really think this country never sponsored terrorism? And on top of that you still want to take me to prison Just ‘cause I won’t trade my humanity for patriotism"
ALBUM SALES: 200,000
Lil Wayne
I don’t love them #### But don’t #### up Cause when it Waynes it pours No really, I’m on my “#### that #####” #### You used to be the #### but now you ain’t ####, #####
ALBUM SALES: 6,000,000 seems legit

| If lyrics were the only thing that mattered then hip hop would be just as bad. |

^maan kill that comparison. there's been fun music that isn't a lyrical masterpiece but the radio's form of "fun" has gone to downright unbearable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucoK6KN1dzU like this here^ truthfully lyrics are not really good in fact sub-par but it sounds good
buuuttt now something like this can get blasted on the radio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q1wzwAMMPU or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djE-BLrdDDc
not even sounding mildly pleasant to the ears |

"ALBUM SALES: 200,000"
for an underground independent rapper this would be a huge pay-day if you add the amount of money they'd get from performing.
it's just the way you look at it. if tupac was alive lil wayne would probably still be rapping, because if someone like nas, q-tip, ghostface or rakim are still alive then you know it wouldn't be any different if pac or biggie were still here. |

and btw my dad is 45 and lived in california during the 90's for college and said west coast music had the same impact on people as chicago drill music.
the industry is complicated but in reality it hasn't changed as far as influence goes. |

ty. ty.
and in regards to lil wayne he's probably above mc hammer in the most sold-out rappers of all-time.
looking back, songs like hustler musik, i'm me, let the beat build and dr. carter were so good that at the time he could of just been the best rapper (in mainstream's eye, def. not alive if mynikuh kool g has anything to say about it.) but it's like once he reached a million first week sales, he fell off (i brought rebirth, IANAHB & C4 and liked them all, but only because i'll always be a lil wayne fan)
i could say i wish for old wayne, but that's the same as asking michael jackson to be black again. same goes for kanye. |

| it doesn't matter if you listen to just as music, but for the dumbass kids who look to keef or gucci and think what they do or supposedly do is cool, are down a wrong path and i doubt anyone will teach 'em. |

unlike in cali where gangs influenced rap, rap is influencing gang violence in chicago.
this kid was shot days after this song was posted:
