Note: This thread is not meant to discriminate, flame, or hate on anyone. Please do not reply if you are going to hate me without an intelligent reason why.
Here are some pros and cons of free models.
Pros:
It is very helpful to have someone who wants to help you. For the people who cannot build or script, having some help is very great.
There are some things one cannot do. Like me. I have limits on how far my scripting and building can go. Some games replicate real places, whereas I could never do that. My image is obscured. Having someone else make something they want other users to use is helpful.
Cons:
When people do not credit others nor do some of the work themselves, laziness and procrastination occur. It is not truly your image if you take other people's work, and use it without credit. The people have nicely made these things and allowed you to use them.
Viruses are a matter that ruin your game. The fact that people put viruses in free models just to ruin people's games is a sick idea. No one should try to ruin one's vision.
Summary:
Add your own pros and cons below. These are a small synopsis of the pros and cons of free models. Please, feel free to add your own.

1) It is not possible to trace who made the original model. You would not want to give credit to the wrong person.
2) If I were to make something original and put it up as a free model, then I am giving permission for anybody to use it in anyway possible...no strings attached. |

Free models are very useful for when you need examples of how you want your work to look. Such as maybe throwing it down in Studio and examining how it was built and what bricks were put where, just to give you a clue on how you would want to go about building your own version.
The cons of using free models almost detour any real developer from using them. A very blatantly obvious point I cannot didn't make your list is the scrutiny developers get from having bits of other peoples work in their masterpiece.
I am Christina8787/FizzyPops, y'all know how that worked out for me. I used a few here and there because back then I hadn't the faintest idea on how to CFrame, and it lead to the demise of my games and credibility as a developer.
I believe that if you want your game on front page, then only free models in your game should be ones no one can see. (i.e. Scripts, leaderboards, 'admin'.) |

Yet another thread about the controversy of the usage of free models... Let me re-paste my opinion:
It's a great approach for beginner studio users, however users complain about the usage of free models because many unfair and greedy kids use the free models to make a profit without crediting the rightful owners of the models. |
