woke up at 7 am and got ready for the drum line camp got there at 7:45 and i had to march with bass drum #5 for quite a while keep in mind im only 5'7 tall and im bass #5, and the person with bass #2 is like 5'5, i just got 5 because i happened to barely be the tallest and most muscular(not trying to casually brag here, but the other people on the bass line are honestly very weak compared to me) had to do that sideways walk that they call "crabbing" or whatever for a pretty long ass time, and yay the hot texas sun comes out to spice things up got back inside at like 10 am and constantly practiced til 4 pm, while i had to deal with bass #5 having absolutely no bounce like the other drums have making the fast warmups a real pain right after i get home and do all my daily stuff, i have to go to a 2 hour soccer practice now it's 10:33 and i have to memorize my bass drum parts
tl;dr my life right now has absolutely no breaks and im exhausted af |

tbh our music puts a lot of pressure on me because i have the first note of most stuff and i am the only person who can get everyone back on beat after they screw up when i make a mistake it all falls a part much faster than if anyone else were to mess up
and my rhythms are just as hard as everyone else's, honestly the only thing that's a problem for me is carrying around the largest drum size-comparison wise and having to deal with bass #3 screwing everybody up |

@Flex
Well that's a shame. If worse comes to worse, just beat the drum like the person in front of you and hope the rest of the drummers mask your off beat drumming.

me and bass #4 do the best together, #3 is a weakling who was in pit last year and still couldn't do some of the same rhythms that they had in pit last year on the bass drum we actually don't use bass #1 for some odd reason, it's 2-5
but thanks a lot for the good luck, ill probably need it
you play tenor? what's it like? |

he's a hell of a good player that's for sure based on statistics he's the #1 NBA player in the world right now and if there's a player that can turn a game completely around, it's him |

lol story of my life. when i was on bassline, only me and the #5 guy could actually play in rhythm. (bass #3 guy even quit halfway through the year). ive seen some bands do that actually for their drumline. since we are a big band, we have 5 basses, 5 snares, and 2 tenors. we also have had a cymbal line in the past. playing the tenors are amazing. since i play drumset, transitioning to the tenors was one of my best marching experiences ever. (they were god heavy though lol) will be playing them again next year.

i thought it would have been really hard as well. however, it wasnt as bad as it seems. (especially when you practice every day under the hot boiling sun...)
