This is a pretty long post. If you don't like reading, move on. It's not for you.
You have been warned.
Over the last couple of weeks, numerous (if not nearly all) developers have learned how to access PointsService and award players with Player Points for completing tasks. The point of Player Points (excuse the alliteration) is to "use [them] to show your friends how experienced a gamer and ROBLOX member you are", courtesy of the ROBLOX blog.
That point has been completely missed.
Look at the Front Page right now - do it, and you'll see at least 3 games that award excessive amounts of Points to the players that literally buy the Points from the games. "FREE PLAYER POINTS", "BUY PLAYER POINTS" and "4 ROBUX = 1 PP" are not games that should be there. They are not even games that should exist; the creators of those games are awarding themselves and the players far too many Points. People who have had 0 Points one day have gotten to six million Points the next day. The global leaderboard is now filled with players that have over one million Player Points.
One million.
Just think about it. If Player Points were not abused, and, say, each game that honestly distributed Points to players averaged about 30 points awarded per player, that one player would have to visit more than 30 thousand games to get those Points. 30 is a pretty big number too, so let's assume that each player spends, say, an hour in each game to achieve that number of Points. The total game time turns into more than 30 thousand hours for one player - almost 3.5 years' worth of Points. Developers shouldn't go from 0 to 6 million Points in a single day when they have games that have only 15,000 visits - that's 400 in-game purchases per player, a number that is abnormally high, don't you think? The limit of Points per place doesn't even matter anymore, because there are so many places selling points and offering "1 KO = 1 POINT" that a player can gain thousands of points a day.
This version hasn't been out for even a week and the players have already gotten a gargantuan number of Points - a thing that would not have happened if ROBLOX set up a reliable system for awarding Player Points.
The final version of Player Points has not been installed yet, so I'm being a little naive in assuming that the whole thing is flexible and a lot of adjustments can be implemented.
1) Do it the harsh way. Remove the games that let you buy Player Points for Robux and Tickets - those games shouldn't be there in the first place. Warn the developers and make unfair distribution of Points a bannable offense. While I realize that I'm sounding a bit harsh, the ROBLOX community is so bad that the only thing that prevents them from doing something is the threat of a ban. Of course, logic now states that trolls would be setting up places like that for no reason. The solution to that? Do it like Wikia administrators - ban their IP adress from accessing ROBLOX entirely. 2) Establish a daily limit of Points that can be earned by a player from a single place - 200 Points per day should be enough. While I understand that this may restrict some developers, it's pretty much the only choice we have - we have enough developers abusing their own games to gain thousands and even millions of Points.
I don't care if I get ridiculed for this post or get called out for my harshness. This has been a thing I've been seeing far too often and it's been bugging me for far too long. If you don't like the idea, ignore this post - ROBLOX doesn't look at the hate replies. If you do like the idea, just reply with "Support" and maybe with an idea on how we could remove this issue.

Btw, You are talking about me :D...
With that said.. I do believe that games should only award players when they earn it, not buy it.
You are currently trying to think of ways that roblox could limit them being awarded.. But they would need to have a system in it besides it just being a small feature in the game. It would be regulated and maintained by roblox. How would this happen? Don't really know an efficient way to do this. I do support that they should be regulated but in a way that's fair for everyone. |

Sorry if you think I hate you, I don't ;_;
It's just really bad that players are giving people too many points. They're supposed to show off your skill, after all, not how much R$ you can spend in a game. |

| Roblox should have a team going around and see if the top games that give out player points are legitly earning player points.. I have the most popular game that players can earn player points on, and you can't buy them at all. If a game was caught selling player points, it wouldn't be able to give out player points until the next year. If not longer. And if that player does continue to do it, the account shouldn't be allowed to award players player points. That's really the best way to do it. It would take the lowest amount of effort and it wouldn't require a new system. |
