I don't see any logical purpose of that knowledge, and if anything, it seems that attempting to discover the origin of the universe harms humanity more then not attempting to discover it. IE: Religious wars

If anything, most of the human population would do better simply accepting that it is here, and not attempting to argue about something that cannot be discovered, and or proven.

If the origin of the universe actually was caused by the "big bang" it wouldn't be able to be replicated, therefore not proven. If it happened to be a divine being, it would be even harder to replicate, so not proven. If a thing such as the "Rapture" happened, then that would be proof, but it would not help human life as it stands now.

Or Darwin's theory on evolution. Not quite what you were getting at, but it's the same point.

It's just an endless thirst for knowledge, which is human nature.

Nothing can really be done about it. I for one, would be hyped if we suddenly found out, for sure.

I mean, how cool would that be?

>the "big bang" can be replicated by splitting atoms
and then we can see the effects and get a better understanding of our universe.

how do you know the big bang is actually replicated by splitting atoms?

we know the universe was created due to the observing the explosions of other large objects

like stars

so our theory is that one condensed ball exploded and smashed all the hydrogen, etc

making new stuff

so yeah its just a theory

We can already split atoms, and we know what particle the "big bang" was caused by.

Another aspect would be, if we perfectly recreated the creation of the universe, would we be able to do it inside of out already existing universe?

I'm not stating we wouldn't have any new technology from discovering the origin, I'm just stating that in the long run, the debate will harm humankind more then help it.

@Tormentium

the bing bang is not an explosion

it is a rapid expansion of the known universe
