Just off the top of my head, feel free to add more.
1. Defeat the heroes early on as the antagonist, beat them easily, and then let them live, leaving. It will make the RPers want revenge, meaning they will have to RP further in, get better, and eventually defeat the antagonist in the final battle.
2. Give them a good friend early on, and then kill them off with the antagonist, leave the RPer alive. |

"Give them a good friend early on, and then kill them off with the antagonist, leave the RPer alive."
As John and Matthew were chasing the remaining enemy troops, Matthew tripped on a rock and his face landed on a spike and he died.
In short, good advice. |

Hm, hooks. DnD teaches you to advance plot through tempting the player. "Oh, over there, in that cave, you'll find a very powerful weapon..." Enters cave, and releases god... |

Make people betray the good-guy. Occasionally kill off a PC or two. Make the badguys win at the end of the day. Make it so that the good-guys are only furthering the bad-guy's plans.
