The average american high school student has the same level of anxiety as people put in mental hospitals in the 1950's
Over 25% of my year group has self harmed recently
Some of my best friends at school cry themselves to sleep because of the pressure of school
I've talked to 2 people considering suicide and several others having mental breakdowns because of all the work they have to do and the high expectations.
So don't you dare tell me the american education system is good. |

High expectations?
Seems more like proof American students need a push. |

actually if you can't handle that much stress it isn't really the school's problem in 3rd grade my teacher would send us home with half our desk for homework and no one complained or had any breakdowns if you can't handle stress it's your own problem and it's YOUR job to deal with it, not the school's.

*3rd grade*
3rd grade is not in high school, and young children are better at dealing with stress |

"3rd grade is not in high school, and young children are better at dealing with stress"
3rd grade with a nun for a teacher is a whole different ballgame than just 3rd grade though most of us were expecting her to go get a ruler or something any second one time she made the whole class rewrite most of our papers because the cursive wasn't slanted enough

Of course the American education system is terrible, but my primary reason for thinking so isn't high expectations. If anything, the expectations in countries with better education systems are even higher. My primary reasons are the grading system, common core, standardized testing, college admissions policies, and the accreditation and lifestyle of teachers.

i'd like to think that the homework she gave us is on par with high school levels of it but i'm not sure also @ electric what is accreditation of teachers is it that thing where they get paid more for better grades

@mikey - No, I'm talking about their certification--the training and licensing they have to go through to become teachers. Did you know that 1 in 4 American high school students has an uncertified math teacher?

"Free Health Care"
no health care is paid for in taxes like how public schools are paid for in taxes
