He is 31 as of this World Cup, and would be 35 by Russia 2018.
Looking at Donovan not making the World Cup roster has nothing to do with his form. Him not making the final cut was strictly his relations with Klinsmann. |

| I don't think he is. As good as Dempsey is, once a player reaches the age of 35 they probably can't compete at a high level in international competition. |

I believe that there some older footballers that are 35+ that are on their nation's World Cup roster.
Klose being the first one that came to mind. |

@jimbo The only position that does get better around age 33-34, even 35, is playing GK. The other field positions require an age between 21 and 30 |

| Well, he's still performing at a high rate and has the second most goals in WC history. Maybe if Dempsey doesn't falter too much Klinsmann could put him on for the experience. |

He won't go or start. This is his last World Cup. The way the U.S. midfield is looking, 2018 will be the best U.S. squad ever. And Dempsey at 35 will be nowhere near the level of the future guys like Green, Rowe, Nagbe, Gil, Bradley, Trapp, F4gundez, Thompson, Joya, Arriola, etc. |

| Uruguay will not cap him as long as he's still playing in MLS |

| USA will lobby for F4gundez like they did with Green. I think that Diego will be easier to bring unto the USMNT being that he has been in America since he was 5, and has been playing in MLS his whole career. |

| I left another name out. Lee Nguyen. Not only does he have the potential to be on the World Cup squad in 2018 he has the potential to start. This dude should have been on THIS World Cup squad |
