As I, Nikolai Spectra, was on the Frozen Asteroid Spaceport, my mind was pounding with thoughts. I had heard from my squad leader Alpha, a Sleet Clan Warlord, and one of the few female officers in Sleet Clan, that we would be “embarking on a great journey.” But great in whose eyes? Those aristocrats who sit back at their command center and control the universe at a soldier’s expense? But alas, I enjoyed combat, but that was probably because I had never seen any at the time. I fell asleep that night quite well, as I knew I would need to rest before combat.
The alarm sounded in the morning, louder and more despicable than the alarms at my military academy. But I still do not know whether the morning alarms during elementary school were surpassed in hatred. I silently reported to my squad, comprised of the leader Alpha, the elite Vice, the soldier Salus, and myself, using the callsign Slayer. The leader of this operation, Rivalize, stepped onto the podium, and began his speech. He explained with great charisma and power how we would be aiming to capture Lord Zedex, the left hand man of the Cobra Emperor John, and the head of the Cobra Royal Guard. We would be launching an assault on Fort Fang, the primary outpost of the Cobras. As the speech wrapped up, the troops loaded onto the best cruisers of the SC fleet. I was assigned to Rivalize's flagship, the Gladium.
As we arrived at Fort Fang, I could see the determination of both my comrades and members of Cobra Prime Operations, who were assigned to patrol and protect the outpost. Each and every living being willing to give up their life for their country, or their country's leaders. I thought to myself, "Why should I fight for the Council of Sleet Clan?" That was an interesting question, that I still have not answered. But my instincts took over, and the action and combat engulfed me. At that point in time, every combatant at Fort Fang was breathing, whether they breathe oxygen or some other substance. But that was soon to change. The sun on the horizon was red, just like the day to come. The battle began as Cobra turrets began firing at the Sleet Clan dropships. My dropship was unharmed, but 3 of our 50 were hit. The dropships were designed by the great Frostbyte Corporation. Recently, FCORP, as they were commonly refereed to, disbanded with the departure of their lead engineer, a clever fellow under the alias Unclear. Can we blame a country's engineers for creating chaos and war? Or shall we once again blame their superiors? In the end, I think the blaming is what creates war.
As I landed and got off the dropship, we set up a raider HQ in an abandoned JC forward command center. There was a city seperating us from the actual fort. Prime Ops soldiers patrolled the fort, and some even flew around the city with hoverbikes. We were told we would deploy in 2 hours. My squad would sneak up the building of a major technology corporation, and steal some of their newest prototype hoverbikes. Then, we would use the hoverbikes to launch a direct frontal assault on the outpost, and finally raise the flag of our clan once the fort was secured. A squad of only elites, named the "Safeguard" would capture Lord Zedex. The showdown was about to begin. |
