Metal is better than Pop. There, I said it. To be honest, the reasons are obvious. Let's start off with reason one.

Reason one: Music-
The music style is deffinetly a key issue right here. To save time, I'll use modern examples. Modern day pop is usually influenced by dub-step and country. So when they sing, it's usually with a twang. Though, something feels missing. Ah, the instruments. Pop music doesn't use instruments often. It's just machine-generated music. That explains why Bruno Mars only had a dance crew at the Superbowl. While rock music has a band that travels with them. I wonder what happened to the guitars.

Reason two: Variety-
Rock music has a variety. You got Metal, Alternative and Classic. It basically fits all generations. Classic plays music from the 60's and 70's. You get allot of AC\DC, Led Zeppelin, Motorhead, Pink Floyd and Steve Miller. This is mainly geare towards the older generations. Metal plays some heavier music. You'll hear allot of MetallicA, Avenged Sevenfold, Five Finger Death Punch, KoRn, Rob Zombie and so on. This is meant for the heavier crowd. And, of course, people from the 80's and 90's. For those who like a lighter approach, you have the alternative station. You'll hear allot of Green Day, 30 Seconds To Mars, Jimmy Eat World, Black Keys and Nine Inch Nails. You'll hear some Chevelle and Linkin Park too. They're Nu-Metal bands, which basically is modern metal. They play on all stations. When it comes to pop, you got one option. So it kinda doesn't help those who want pop with guitars.

Reason three: Stars-
Both genre's aren't perfect. I mean, seriously. But when it comes to people, it kinda goes both ways. Let's just focus on the issue at hand. Pop stars haven't been the greatest of role models lately. We have Miley Cyrus "doing her thing" and we got Justin Bieber "doing his thing (whatever that may be)". Then we got Lady Gaga wearing her food, and so on. This is how I put it, if your friend walks up to your car and says "What are you listening too?" are you gonna answer "I'm listening to Justin Bieber." or are you gonna answer "I'm listening to Avenged Sevenfold"? It doesn't really have to be Justin Bieber, I was just being obvious. It also doesn't have to be Avenged Sevenfold either. You can throw in KoRn, because they scare Justin Bieber. Now that you think of it, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson could scare him too... Anyways, you guys get the point. Not to mention most rock stars make good role models. Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) and Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) write songs about internal struggle. Red Hot Chili Peppers write songs about the negative effects of drugs. How they affect your family, yourself, etc. Under The Bridge is a good example. MetallicA even did a show to benefit a charity. They got no pay from it. All proceeds when directly to chairty. Bands like P.O.D, Skillet and Switchfoot are Christian. They perform at allot of Christian Contemporary concerts.

Reason four: Meaning-
This is probably the biggest issue I have. Meaning. The meaning behind the song is everything. If you look up 'Jeremy by Pearl Jam' you will see it was about a school shooting, and what events caused him to do it. If you look up 'Gangnam Style by Psy' nothing pops up. Why? Because its meaningless. Alot of rock songs have very serious meaning. Linkin Park really does carry alot of meaning. Songs like Numb and In The End are perfect examples. Verses modern Pop songs are about partying, drinking, red solo cups, amongst others. Yet the stars say they "care about influences" but they sing about partying? What a way to care.

In conclusion, I like trains.

Someone must be a pop fan. You can't deny that a large majority of pop stars go crazy. Miley Cyrus ended up just like Brittney Spears. Selena Gomez is gonna end up at rock bottom pretty soon. Katy Perry is just contridicting herself, as always, and so is Justin Bieber. Just accept Rock music has better quality than pop. Atleast our music has meaning, and isn't about how much we liked kissing a girl, and how nice our rims our, and what ever "turn it off for what" means.

i think there is more variety in pop than metal, just because "pop" encompasses multiple genres instead of just one.

Violetcries, there really is no meaning to pop anymore. Songs like "smooth criminal" were about murders that happened. Songs like "wrecking ball" just gloat about ones fame. I'll hand it to you. Brittney does have mental problems, but that is 50/50 on her part. She should take half of the blame for acting out, and her parents should take half the blame for not seeking the required help. Though, this isn't about just one person. It's about one genre. The entire pop genre is redundant in it's own right. Bands like One Direction are just sad excuses for music. People like Katy Perry are just figure heads. They all just praise Obama for no reason other than what he's done for the LGBT. They can't even explain the democratic party. They can't even explain the republican party either. They just blindly agree. Rock bands voice their oppinions, whether we like it or not. They're honest. That's something you don't see in the pop genre. 30 seconds to mars and Avenged Sevenfold ar e perfect examples of their political honesty.

wrecking ball is about love or whatever its fairly obvious wow. 1d are rubbish but theyre just having fun and they like to sing. as Skrillex said, or at least I think it was Skrillex who said it, music isn't politics its supposed to be fun.

Love how you quote Skrillex, of all people, to me about politics. Although I agree, I still think they shouldn't lie about their political affiliations. It's all about honesty with the fans. That's why I appreciate the rock singers. They don't lie about their political affiliations. Also, Skrillex isn't even a musician. He makes dub step, which is computer music. It involves no instrument whatsoever, it just requires a computer.

Please. Let me give an example on why you are wrong

Metal:
I'm tired of being what you want me to be
Feling so faithless, lost under the surface
Don't know what you're expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes
(Caught in the undertoe, just caught in the undertoe)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertoe, just caught in the undertoe)

I've become so numb, I can't feel you there
I've become so tired, so much more ware
I'm becoming this, all I want to do
Is be more like me, and be less like you

Pop:
Bring the action

When you hear this in the club
You're gonna turn the sh.. up
You're gonna turn the sh.. up
You're gonna turn the sh..up
When we up in the club
All eyes on us
All eyes on us
All eyes on us

See the boys in the club
They watching us
They watching us
They watching us

Everybody in the club
All eyes on us
All eyes on us
All eyes on us

I wanna scream and shout, and let it all out
And scream, and shout, and let it out
We saying, oh wee oh wee oh wee oh
We saying, oh wee oh wee oh wee oh

Gee, wonder which one makes more sense? One's about being who you want to be, and not what someone else wants you to be. Then one is about being in the club. Wonder which one is more relatable to MINORS who aren't twenty-one.

Yes, but others can do that just to be attention hogs. Also RATM did that too, just saying.

Ok I'm just going to point out how you left out Rage Against the Machine, which based off of other comments here about political opinions means you need to do more research. Just sayin.

Rage Against the Machine, as you can already tell, have some political views of their own. Kinda hard to describe actually... Also, not all metal praises Satan. If you listen to Christian Rock, you would be familiar with P.O.D, Switchfoot and Skillet. Who by the way, are heavy metal. P.O.D and Skillet performed at Welcome To Rockville, which by the way is a heavy metal concert, and Switchfoot performed at The Big Ticket.
