it makes a lot more sense.
12 inches to a foot, 3 feet to a yard, 1760 yards to a mile, and 16 ounces to a pound? where's the sense in that? |

people in other countries use gallons for certain things too.
and it's not the metric system's fault you don't understand rounding |

height is measured in centimeters
no one is going to say they're 1.7 meters, just like no one says they're 5.916 feet tall instead of 5'11" |

@dorada Really? Japan does it in cm, and they're not the only one that's what I get for assuming it was standardized I guess |

The American system of measurements is better to me imo.
- 1 gallon of milk sounds better than 3.79 liters - 5 feet is better than 1.524 meters - There's much more that I can rave about |

| It is true that I'm used to the American system as an American, but I don't see how the metric system is simpler when you're measuring in meters, kilometers, liters, stone, etc. Rather than feet/inches, miles, gallons, pounds, etc. |

@KingIce, that's completely invalid.
4 liters of milk sounds better than 1.06 gallons 2 meters is better than 6.56 feet, but why not just combine several units that don't match up and call it 6 feet 6+(47/64) inches? |

@kingice because it works by tens also, stone isn't part of the metric system |

i guess i can say the same for a gallon a gallon makes more sense than 3.78 liters and a yard(3 ft) sounds better than a meter (3.1 ft???) |

1 gallon isn't natural or anything, you could also have 4 liters which would look better than saying 1.06 gallons. It doesn't matter.
also 1000 mm = 100 cm = 10 dm = 1 m makes way more sense than 12 inch = 1 foot = 1/3 yard and let's say 2000 yards is 1.136 miles. |

@anon
Except that we tend to round more, and try not to use decimals. Instead of "6.56 feet", we say 6 and 1/2 feet, or just 6 feet, 5 1/2 inches, known as 6'5" really. |
