Shattered Skies --July 2019— The United States of America unilaterally declared war on all nations in South and Central America at the start of 2017, immediately after they annexed their northern neighbors. The American forces were too much for the Central American forces, with both superior equipment and manpower; they quickly overran Central America’s defenses and swept across most of South America. The Federative Republic of Brazil was the last nation in South America to be invaded by the United States, and by December of 2018, all resistance was essentially crushed by the United States. The United States was eventually renamed to the American Federation, which became one of the most dominant nations in the world. NATO was disbanded as a result of the unexpected move by the United States and European dissent. The former European NATO nations reformed under a new NATO treaty, without the American Federation to unite against the threat that the Federation presented. The Middle East remained neutral to the situation. The People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation formed the Eurasian Military pact with Pakistan, India, and Singapore, but Australia attempted to remain neutral in an escalating situation. On July 2019, the American Federation launched the invasion of Australia; you are part of a joint NATO-Eurasian Pact detachment that is stationed in Australia at the time of the attack.
-- Rules: 1. Please, do not go against roleplaying etiquette by godmodding, metagaming, powergaming, or trying to circumvent the rules in whatever ways you can. 2. Follow the direction of the administrators. 3. Don’t go flying off from the rest of the group and doing your own thing in an entirely different corner of the world. 4. Getting shot down isn't the end, there's always replacement aircraft. 5. Assume that current technology and equipment is in play; sorry, you won't be flying Russian PAK-FAs under normal conditions. Some prototypes might be presented as potential options. 6. American aircraft like the F-22 Raptor or the F/A-18E are probably going to be unavailible. 7. Remove the parentheses and the optional fields if you aren't going to use them. For example, you should remove '(no more than Lt. Colonel)' on your CS.
Administration Team: AlphaX10 - wrote pretty much the entire thing Soardlo - came up with the name of the thread Hydregion and his alts - I think he can be trusted?

To clarify that's an F-35B II Lightning. It's not due to enter service with the RAF till 2020, but I figure with the current date being 2019 and an impending war to mix things up, the process could be hurried.
Also, Flying Officer, is the british equivalent of a 1st. Lieutenant. |

-RAAF Base Tindal, Northern Territory. KTR-YPTN-
After 5 days straight in Flight Suit, MTPs were a welcome change. Unlike the navy brats, I had to fly here point to point across Asia.
It was certainly exotic, but it got old fast.
I sat idly in one of the plastic seats dotting the improvised rec room. It wasn't so much a room as a tent. It had a couple tables and plenty of chairs, wi extras stacked in a corner. There was a modest TV on one of the sides with a couch and small coffee table in front of it. A couple people had pulled chairs up to the flanks of the couch to watch TV as well. On the opposite side, left from the entrance, there was a row of tables with stations for refreshments. Coffee and the like.
It was boring, but relaxing... |

"Not just a retailer; Sydney's retailer!" The advertisement blared. I wasn't particularly interested in the ads quite as much as the news program that was finally coming back on. The breaks were getting to be, what, eight minutes now? That's just insane. "Aaaand we are back. I sure hope Kelly has a speedy recovery, because it's going to be catastrophic without him next Sunday." One of the anchors said. "As do I. Now, back to the news. The American fleet is still allegedly performing maneuvers in the Pacific, but skeptics are starting to question their presence near Australian waters. Forces near the coast..." The anchor spoke on. I grabbed my drink and took a gulp. "Conspiracy nuts. Why would the Federation attack us?" I announce to the other people in the bar. |

Several Russian Pact SU-35s were heard flying over Sydney before the air-raid sirens began wailing all over Australia.
"Hostile forces are inbound, all pilots, report to your aircraft immediately, this is not a drill!" |

I get up, dropping my cup on the ground. Then sprinting to the hanger where my jet is currently parked. |

Practice Drills left me able to don my flight suit and be on the Tarmac in about 20 minutes, and I wasn't about to falter now.
Flankers though? Those are Russian craft? What're they doing setting off Air-Raid sirens in sydney!?
All planes on station were already combat loaded, so a quick checklist of flight systems and I was prepped for takeoff. A few other craft shoot off into the sky from other runways, and I'm cleared for liftoff.
The plane was quick to accelerate, rumbling noisily even on the smooth concrete runway. I'm pressed into my seat as it gains speed, peeking as the nose drifts upward and the rumbling ceases. The forces ease up as I get airborne, and my flight begins to check in. I do a quick loop around before moving into formation as the leader finds his heading.
Before long we're off, with nothing to see for miles save for rough desert. |

"[EXPLETIVE] [EXPLETIVE]!" I shout. The rest of the pilots in the base's tavern jump up. I dress into my flight suit before sprinting to the hangar. The flight crew is running their final checks. "Are we ready to go?" I hurriedly ask. One of the engineers nods. "Good luck." I climb in and wait for the engines to warm up before taxiing onto the runway. "Alright, guys, here we go! Let's give these comrades a classic Australian welcome party." I speak into my radio before pushing my throttle up and lifting off. I'd mainly be providing stealth for fellow fighters, but I was loaded with two antiradar missiles for SEAD along with the ECM and jamming pods and the Air-to-Air missiles. I take a deep breath, hoping to catch up with the spearhead of the defense before too long. |

I'm on the run way making last and final checks. The engineers give me the all clear. I push the accelerator and I start to gain speed, I gain enough thrust that I steady raise off the ground. Once I'm in the air, I close my landing gear. I try to catch up with the defense forces, but I know that I am behind. So I guess I can try to act a support role. |

My radars sweeping the skies, I soon detect the enemy squadrons. "Oh, crap. They're about 7 kilometers offshore and closing fast! Use afterburner, we need to get to the shoreline before they do!" |
