I've been wondering- do Sikhs really view marriage as the binding/uniting of two souls, rather than two physical beings?
If so, I personally think that's a beautiful way to look as marriage- more or less the union of two souls. :) |

Why are you a Sikh?
I can't make any comments on the religion itself- as I know almost nothing about it.

| Most of the kirpans I see are really teeny, which was kind of dissapointing since I thought you got to carry a huge steak knife size thingie around with you but there is literally nothing wrong with it, it is a beautiful religion which not only advocates equality and love but the carrying out of this actively is a big part of the religion :). Just my opinion! |

I don't carry the sword thing yet, but I will when I'm older. And there's no size limit, they can be big, but due to the law of countries, it affects the size probably.
We can't cut our hair. If God made it grow naturally, why should you dare to cut what God gave to you?
And I'm Sikh because I was born with it. I had the choice of Catholicism or Sikhism, and seeing as I personally believe that Sikhism is the best religion for me, I chose Sikhism. However, I was baptised a Christian.
And yes, marriage is the binding of two souls.

So you picked Sikhism because it was the most appealing? Surely *truth* should be a more important factor? |

| It's appealing because it's true. |

| I don't, but I have faith in it. If it's not true, then I guess I'm wrong, but faith is faith. I'm happy with my religion, I've no need to hate on other religions if they're not true. |

Also, you rather specifically said that you "had the choice between Christianity* and Sikhism", but that you were still "born with it"
So which one is it? Indoctrination or personal choice?

| I was born a Catholic and baptised as one, but later as I got older, I was 'allowed' to choose, I guess. |

The Indoctrination or Personal Choice one? Technically Personal Choice. |

No, you've already answered that. My question was: How do you know it's true?

Oh. Well I don't know for certain, but for me, everything it says about physical things are true. When I do the meditation prayer music thing (kirtan), I do actually feel like I'm 'euphoric' (the actual euphoria, not edgy one). It seems true as well. It belives in Science and Evolution. |
