@big
7th gen was 9 years. It's going to be about 10 years.
And if they do make bad business decisions they are going to fail. By trying to argue that they won't you are proving yourself biased towards the companies. |

@Meldo But how bad could one business decision be that it ends in complete failure? The Xbox One was a terrible business decision, but Xbox is still going around. |

I said decisions, mate.
And how was the Xbox One a terrible business decision?
They made some bad decisions with features during the original design, but they eventually listened to the consumer's response and removed them. Now, if they HADN'T done that, it could very well have been costly in the long-term to the survival of the company's console side. |

@Meldo The Xbox One was a business decision because it was deciding what their next console, their biggest product, would be like. If Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo ever do anything, the Internet will be like "NO, DON'T DO THAT." or "YES, DO THAT." So they can just use that advice, and continue on with their business. But they're bound to trip and fall somewhere. |

| As far as I can tell, you're pretty much just repeating what I'm saying at this point...? |

Okay, this is getting confusing, lemme try and clear this up.
Meldo: "Consoles are gonna fail soon because they'll make a terrible idea and go with it." Bigtiop: "But if they make a terrible idea, the Internet will call them out on it and they'll fix it."
Is that anywhere close to what anybody else was getting from this? |

I'm not saying they are guaranteed to fail soon. I am saying, theoretically, if they make a bad decision and do not correct it, it will eventually lead to cutting off the dying limb that is their consoles.
As in, if Microsoft hadn't listened to the public's responses on Xbox One features, and released it as it was, eventually it would have lead them to close the Xbox. |

All right, got it. Except for the "dying limb" part. They seem pretty alive and kicking to me. Although PC is wearing body amour so the kicking isn't doing much. |

The dying limb was part of the theoretical scenario.
If they did make the bad decision, less people would buy their consoles, thus less support for the console branch, thus it's a dying limb of the company. |

All right, so:
Consoles will die out if they make a bad decision, but the bad decision won't last long because the Internet will make them change their minds. But even then, people still didn't trust the Xbox One even after they changed the stuff back... |

| Well, they'll die out if they skip the step of changing their minds. |
