Do you think another company would buy playstation?
I hope so. I don't want to have a console that is getting no updates or games or anything |

| the playstation brand as a whole is an expense because sony must pay for exclusives, in house studios, losses on hardware sales, servers, and other services |

...And then make money off of them. You seem to have very little understanding on business. It's not just paying for things, it's also BEING payed. |

I can see a possibility of it happening in the next two gens (9 and 10) |

@Meldo Nah, maybe gen 14 or 15. They're too popular now to die out THAT fast. |

Yeah i have to admit that is true
ps4 has no games and yet has broken console launch sales records |

it actually turns out that sony actually made a small profit from playstation last quarter ($173M)
my point largely still stands. even if console brands are (somewhat) profitable, its still extremely risky. lets all be reminded that it took Sony 4 years just to make a profit from hardware sales alone with the PS4 and that they had to take out a $698m loan closely after the release of the PS3.
lets also keep in mind that while I can be profiteering now, it doesn't mean that the debt/loss from previous deficits that I racked up before disappeared. |

It's not that fast. 10-20 years from now is a LONG time.
If they make a few bad business decisions they could go downhill insanely quick.
Just look at THQ.
2002 they were pretty much raking in the cash. 11 years later they go bankrupt and defunct. |

But THQ wasn't the biggest powerhouse. Sony and Microsoft are big companies, and don't just make consoles. THQ was just a semi-small dev team. |

I wasn't talking about the ENTIRE company, sorry.
I meant their console divisions. If they see they aren't making profits on the consoles (games & accessories included) they're going to put a stop to it. |

But PlayStation is like, their biggest thing. It'll take more than a gen or two worth of bad decisions to stop. Look at Microsoft, they didn't give up on Xbox after the backlash of XB1, did they? Sony didn't give up on PlayStation after E3 2006, did they? Microsoft didn't give up on Kinect (though they should've) after all the negative reception of it, did they? It'll take about 3 or 4 more XB1-level of failure events to make them drop it, which should take 6-7 gens. |

| Like I said, a gen is a long time. Also, it's more 10-30 years. My bad. 10-20 would be end of 8th gen to end of 9th gen. |

Infact, That made them stronger
Now the ps4 is super easy to put games on because of that |

| Considering each console generation is 6-7 years, and one console is made for that company each gen, and the odds of it being terrible is usually 50-50, and let's go with it takes 6 gens to make them quit, that's about 2-3 of the gens sucking. |
