for highschool. I just wanted to make the drumline, didn't care what I got. Anyways, luckily one of the people who tried out for snare did horrible and all 4 people (Including me) who tried out for bass got the spot by default. I have the largest bass drum, and it's huge. They want me to work on shoulder strength and stuff over the summer. |

It's fun but we havnt got to do much from 6th grade to 8th. We only had 2 parades and 3 concerts, with the music all being pretty easy. It completely changes in highschool, though. It's gonna be a big change for me lol |

My old school did a bunch of parades and concerts.
I play flute though, so my only problem is trying not to do the weird flute smacking thing that happens when you hit the edge of someone's flute with yours and they move it at the same time as you and you just look like you're sword fighting with them after a while.
I imagine marching with a bass drum is pretty hard |

flute is literally one of the easiest instruments to march with only a pound so holding it up isn't a problem
i marched bari sax for three years and it's harder than marching sousa to to the lack of mobility and the fact that you have to take the load with your arms instead of solely the shoulders |

alto isn't too bad for marching as the neckstrap, though annoying, really doesn't hinder movement |

The second years get tenors a lot of the time. But most people aren't changing spots because of only one person in the drumline graduating next year |

Yeah, plus the length of it helps you stay in line. You move too much to either side and your flute slams into the one beside you |
