And why aren't monkeys still evolving to humans?
I go to the zoo, and there still not a human.

| So far we've established Jay is less intelligent than ape's, humans are the master-race and evolution is not real. Best thread ever, |

| Although we have 98% of our DNA in common with monkeys, we were not derived from them. If we were, monkeys would still develop to be just like us. Sure, monkeys can be trained to be like us because they are a very intelligent species, but you don't see any monkeys running for President, right? Monkeys are smart, but they're not smart enough to establish a city like we can. And also, there are no "intermediates" of humans and monkeys found in any fossil records, and there will never be because Evolution is just another theory derived by a scientist, Charles Darwin. Until there is real evidence and a logical explanation on how Evolution is real, I'm sticking toward being a Creationist because the Bible states that God created the world and all of the animals and that He created US from ashes. Sounds impossible because some of you don't even believe in God, but he's more real than Evolution. |

| Not sure if you guys are trying to use Darwinian 'logic' or not. Darwin never said that we are evolved from apes or monkeys or whatever. He merely stated that we share a common ancestor with them. |

"Although we have 98% of our DNA in common with monkeys"
It's because we elvolved from monkey, they're primates too and 98% is a higher difference, the DNA difference between other humans can be max. 0,1% |

An apple limb could be fused with another fruit tree. It doesn't make it any less of an apple. Scientists have found no mutation that develops more genetic information, but rather they all decrease it slightly. |

@Kai
"Scientists have found no mutation that develops more genetic information, but rather they all decrease it slightly."
Not only does that claim get destroyed by the evidence- it's not even remotely possible.
Cerain monkeys have a mutation in a protein called TRIM5, in which results in a piece of another, defunct protein being tacked onto TRIM5. The result is a hybrid protein called TRIM5-CypA, which can protect cells from infection with retroviruses such as HIV. Here, a single mutation has resulted in a new protein with a new- and potentially vital function. New protein, new function, new information.
As unlikely as that presumably sounds, it should be noted that the TRIM5-CypA protein has evolved independently in two separate groups of monkeys. However, the evolution of a new gene usually involves far more than a single mutation. The most common way for a gene to evolve, is when an already existing gene gets duplicated. Once there are two or more genes, they can each independently evolve in separate directions.
And yes, I decided to 'bother' anyway.

@Block
Biological classification depends on physical characteristics and relation to other animals. We are, whether you like it or not, closely related to other *apes*- such as the chimpanzee and the orangutan.
We're not classified as monkeys, but we're most certainly classified as both mammals and apes.

| or put it like this: "the monkeys/apes see they have medical problems with their biology and they would like to have new bodies so they say 'hey let's evolve into smarter things until we are always 100% healthy with no problems.' and they did but they stopped evolving and we still have things like cancer and other medical problems" so yea they evolved because they didn't like how they were so far in evolution so they had to keep evolving till they got too smart to evolve anymore. is that what you mean? |
