*Warning: My opinion is below. Please do not get mad, simply post a civil response*
I myself am a gun owner, I hunt with my dad and I go to a shooting range. There is nothing wrong with having LEGAL gun ownership. If a person goes through all the checks, has no criminal background, no felonies, and has no mental issues, I'd say if they're over 18 they could purchase a firearm. This is an old argument, but legal gun owners are not the ones that cause the killings, and when they do, it's found that they are mentally unstable or not suited to be handling a firearm (i.e drunk, very angry, etc) Chicago, one of the most anti-gun cities in the U.S, has a MASSIVE murder rate that is far higher than cities in states with the most relaxed gun laws. Mexico, for example, outlaws weapons, but they have massive amounts of cartel and gang violence (to be fair, Mexico is a developing nation with a corrupt government.)
Armed citizens is what started the United States, and it's what will make any invasion of the mainland a living hell for an enemy.

I'm neutral. You can kill anyone with literally ANYTHING. Though, people will just get mad if you take their guns away, but the same effect is seen if not; other people would be mad if you keep the guns .. madness.
But if anything, I'd prefer to be killed by a gun shot through the head so that it's just quick.

| Why should we bother banning guns if people who use them for bad things get them illegally? Not only that but no one seems to realize the effects the black market will get from this. We already seen what happened when there was a ban on smoking plants, so who says banning guns won't have a similar effect? The ban will put many people who aren't causing harm into prison. The ban will cost a lot to maintain, and will make criminals rise in power from the black market and the defenseless populations. |

I think you're a bit mad. Let me write a civilized response.
My dad and I hunt buck, which is a nuisance in our area. Also, we get most of our meat from deer (i.e Venison) so yes, us "hicks" do have use for them, as well as providing self-defense and clay pigeon shooting and target shooting. |

| I'd draw the line at the point where you could not distinguish right from wrong and have a disconnect between reality and what's not real. |

I don't want everyone to carry them, I would feel unsafe on the streets if it was allowed (Like the U.S).
But I;m in Canada, so no need to worry about that crap. |

@whoever said banning guns is hard and costs a lot
no it's not. if the us wasn't so backwards on so many of its policies and the people didn't overreact to everything that would mean change, the us would be far better off. most of the best countries to live have gun laws and i fail to see that as a coincidence. |

My opinion is that is should be stricter and should not be bought over the counter. It should be made harder to get a gun license.

I am against gun ownership. If you really want to risk your life, just so you can go hunting, then you will own a gun.
If you have some sense and don't want your next door neighbor shooting you - You don't want a gun.
Besides, farmers who work hunting get guns... HUNTING RIFLES.
What they are made for...
You don't need a SMG to scare off a robber... |

| You don't use guns to scare away robbers, you use them to kill robbers when you get for your life or the life of another. |

I'd say people need to go through extensive amount of background checks, no one with a violent history, no blind people, and no one with a 2 digit IQ (oops 3/4 of gun owners are out).
But honestly I would be fine with no guns whatsoever. |

Someone told me the amendment was made back when we didn't have assault weapons, so we shouldn't have assault weapons but we should still have self defense weaponry.

| If you read the second amendment, gun ownership was meant for heavily regulated militias not individual ownership. |
