the fight scenes are easily some of the best in kaiju film history, needless to say
and the soundtrack is a whole new level of bad ass, also needless to say
put those two together and i dont give a damn how stupid the movie is, when its just flat out awesome

| Agreed, on paper Pacific Rim isn't a good film, but in actuality, there is little that compares. |

@tahu i love Pacific Rim it has only one real purpose, to display an awesome fight of bad ass monsters against bad ass robots, and it does it beyond perfectly
it probably would've been basically the perfect monster movie if it just had a better story, and more work done on the characters, maybe some actual meaning

@mad the effects are what got me to see the movie in the first place
when i first heard about it i was just "oh, cool, a live-action Evangelion type thing minus the deep symbolism.. guess ill wait for that on netflix or something" until i saw the trailers, and then i realized this had to be seen in theaters
best decision i made all year then

I bought the novelization for my dad for Christmas last year.
I haven't read it myself, but he said that they went into more detail and depth than the film.
I should probably get around to reading that. |

I have to be honest here.
Pacific Rim ha some of the best kaiju fights scenes.
But I can't agree with it since they fought for a bit and you just see a little of a city being destroyed.
I mean,Godzilla fought against monsters and leveled a huge part of a city but a robot and a mutated alien fish thing only destroy a few places. |

@tahu they do get a bit more technical, what ive read so far not read a lot because it feels weird reading a book about giant monsters seems more something im supposed to watch, not read
kinda nice, tho, they have little newspapers/document things on a few pages here and there that kinda give you an idea of whats going on in the world while this war is going on how people react to all this, some history behind the Jaegers, and so forth
