Most of the issues with leaving them broke is they go into something that doesn't have many, if any job opportunities. Take the base example of Psychology. Going by the latest trend that was set in the 1970s soon there will be more people w/ degrees in Psychology than jobs for it [1][2].
Things like that are my main concern - people are not diversifying enough in the labor market. Which is the problem especially for people who can not take on the financial burden. However you say you picked something good so I will assume this doesn't apply to you. For others, however.
As you said college isn't for everybody. Which is true and also as you said it will not leave you broke if you're smart about it. Unfortunately [most] people do not look at the numbers; just the payroll.

Harvard.
And I'm already on the right track to it with grades and other positive attributes towards college entrance. |

We need Noswad to enter the zoology/agriculture faculty. Farmers are always needed around the world. Less people from the newer generations want to be farmers and the population of the world is growing, so this isn't good.
In addition, if he likes it, let 'em at it.
Anyways, the minimum I plan to shoot at is McGill University. I have a 96% average (English is pulling me down) that could be better.
If it works out well and my average increases over the next year or two, I will try going for an ivy league university (fingers crossed). |

| I've been accepted to every ivy league school in the US. I took every AP course in middle school and got a 5 on each, excluding the AP Human Geography exam I just got a 6 on by drawing a picture of Jesus on the FRQ. |

| I'm planning on Duke. My home college, not very far from my place, I can visit my parents often :D. Also, great basketball team, hoping to get into it. |
