Do you prefer the Spiderman movies with Tobey Maguire or the new ones with Andrew Garfield.
I prefer all the old characters better. |

Tobey Maguire (the old trilogy).
Many things were better in the old one. For example, his suit. In the new one, it doesn't look as good (sorry). The acting is good in both though, but story line-wise, I'd go with the old one. |

| I like the newer one, but it's most likely because I saw the Amazing Spider-man 2 recently and haven't seen Sam Raimi's films in a while. |

Original trilogy. Why? Three words.
J Jonah Jameson. |

| I don't think it's reasonable to judge both trilogies yet because not all of the Amazing Spider-man films are out yet. |

| New one by far. The story is much more accurate (to the comics) and where it is not, they make it inaccurate to strengthen it. Haven't seen the newest movie though. |

| Why does it have to be accurate to the comics? Why can't the movies have their own elements and separate from the comics? It's nice that they're respecting the source material, but I would like for them to push some boundaries like the Sam Raimi films did. |

| I think there is a fine balance, and, in my opinion, the things they deviate from in the new series are better than the ones they deviated from in the old series. |

| The Lizard in the Amazing Spider-man was awful. He seems like he's there for the sake of being evil and such. Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2 had a reason for robbing banks and other crimes because all he wants to do is finish his experiment. In the end where Spider-man and Doc are talking to each other, Doc understands what he has done and sinks his experiment into the water. The Lizard just wants to turn everyone else into a lizard because he's the bad guy, unless I'm missing something completely. |

| Doctor Octavian is a character introduced later in the story. I agree that the Lizard is a weak character and I do dislike how they embellished him a lot, but the development of Peter's character was much more important in this movie than anything else, which is something they didn't do well in the old trilogy. |

| I've never read the comics, but I didn't very much like Electro in the most recent Amazing Spiderman. I think his development as a villain was too rushed. |

This is quite arguable. In the Sam Reimi version, Peter had multiple issues come up throughout each film. It wasn't just Uncle Ben's death. I will list issues that Peter faced as a character in all movies since the 2000s.
SM 1:
- long issue with Uncle Ben's death - MJ almost killed on the bridge - the fact that the Green Goblin is his best friend's father - Aunt May was almost killed in her home
SM 2:
- losing his super powers - Aunt May in trouble yet again - his girlfriend, MJ, dumps him for an astronaut - has to face with the fact that Harry finds out who he is, and that Harry almost killed him - Peter's role model is his greatest enemy (after GG in the previous movie) - MJ almost killed yet again in battle against Doc Oc
SM 3:
- becoming emo - his best friend tries to kill him (again, then a 3rd time later in the movie) - his best friend is the Hobgoblin - finds out his uncle's killer is still alive - MJ breaks up with Peter (because Harry forces her to) - MJ almost killed yet again in the battle against the Sandman and Venom - his best friend dies
AS 1:
- long issue with Uncle Ben's death - Gwen almost killed on the building - the fact that the Lizard is his professor
AS 2:
- Gwen Stacy dies (all I know from the 2nd movie)
I haven't seen Amazing Spiderman 2 yet, so only what I heard on that. |

Forgot something in the post above:
AS 1:
- long issue with Uncle Ben's death - Gwen almost killed on the building - the fact that the Lizard is his professor - the fact that Peter is responsible for the death of Gwen's father |

tobey Maguire
the story (in the first two at least) were much better than the new trilogy. even though stone and Garfield are great actors, I thought that the chemistry was a lot better in the original trilogy between dunst and Maguire. plus, upside down spidey kiss! |

Andrew Garfield.
His charisma as Spiderman is amazing. The best part of the newer Spider Mans was the amazing cast. |

Tobey Maguire has and always will be Spider-Man to me.
I like the newer movies better though, because they can improve off of the older ones. Plus, thanks to recent technology, the animations are a lot more better. |
