| Some people call it 'V Day' for Victory Day, others call it 'VE Day' as the Japanese were still at war with Americans and Russian assistance. In the USSR, Victory Day was celebrated on the 9th of May because that day in 1945 the document of German surrender in the East of Germany was signed, whereas the day before the American document of German surrender in the West was signed. Russia continues to use the 9th as this was their day of German surrender. Therefore it should be the 9th. |
