The most important thing is to use studio. A lot of good builders can use PBS, but they will never reach their full potential without studio. You have so much more control over objects, and can build way faster.
Start playing around with meshes as well. Theres a lot of good build kits that have building oriented meshes, and they will help you achieve shapes and fluidity that basic bricks can't.
The only way to get good at building is to build a lot. The more you build, the more you learn tips and tricks to better emulate the ideas within your head.
Eventually you will experience builders block. It's a lot like writers block. You'll have periods of absolutely no creativity at all. The solution to this is easy: read a book. When you read, your brain creates it's own image of what the writer is trying to convey. The more you read, the more creative your brain will get.
Study real life architectural elements as well. It's really easy to use those in your roblox builds, and they are designed to be pleasing to the eyes.
If you don't have any experience in building, or can't think of any ideas just yet, find an object or structure from real life or fiction that has a lot of pictures that you can use to replicate it. This will usually be your quickest path to success. A lot of architectural elements will be subliminally learned through this method. |

| Forgot to include that you should also play around with object properties a lot too. They will help tons. For example, if you want a certain shade of color, but roblox doesn't support it, you can use transparency to blend the color of the foreground brick with the background brick, creating a new shade that the game engine didn't want you to be able to make. |

Yeah you're going to learn a lot of different tricks like that during the learning process.
Also you need to learn how to cframe as soon as possible. There's a ton of different tools and plugins out there, but this old version of CMDutl is my personal favorite because it's got a lot of features that the others don't.

The only way to get good is to keep on building. At first everything is going to be pretty bad, but you don't become good overnight. Keep building what you love, and when others try to insult you (see: echoduplication) just remember that their opinions are of no value to you because you've portrayed your artistic image, and not everyone has the same taste in art.
Happy building! |

Oh, one last thing that is super important and will increase the quality of your builds instantly.
Build dynamically. Make whatever you're designing feel lived in, and active. No one really does this, and everything is quite dull because of it. An easy way to describe dynamic building is to build a vignette, and then remove the people.
If you're building a base, add a little damage to the structure here and there. Never make things look pristine and new, because that usually looks boring.
Design everything as if it's had it's fair share of use. |
