Interested in being a leader? In need of help in becoming a better leader? Just read through this thread a few times. I created this thread because I feel that a lot of people out there in the clan world need help being a better leader. Also, if you're familiar with the book "The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader: Becoming the Person Others Will Want to Follow" by John C. Maxwell, then you will recognize almost everything here.
1.) Character
--[ “Leadership is the capacity and will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the character which inspires confidence.” ~ Bernard Montgomery, British Field Marshal
Your actions define you as a person. Be the person everyone wants to follow.
2.) Charisma
--[ “When it comes to charisma, the bottom line is othermindedness. Leaders who think about others and their concerns before thinking of themselves exhibit charisma.” ~ John C. Maxwell
Put other people's concerns and worries before your own.
3.) Commitment
--[ People do not follow uncommitted leaders. Support your group fully or do not support it at all. People especially don't follow uncommitted leaders when times are tough for everyone.
4.) Communication
--[ Take really complicated subjects and make them simple for everyone to understand. It's not just what you say, it's how you say it. Believe what you say, live what you say. The goal of communicating is getting someone else to take action.
5.) Competence
--[ “Competence goes beyond words. It’s the leader’s ability to say it, plan it, and do it in such a way that others know that you know how- and know that they want to follow you.”~ John. C. Maxwell
Keys to high competence: - Follow through with everything. - Inspire and motivate others to take action. - Accomplish more than expected(Related to taking initiative) - Be ready and show up ready everyday.
6.)
--[ Courage
(I know that this is a game, and you're thinking "How does courage apply here?")
Suggest ideas and share opinions. The people around you who hear will respect them. (unless they are totally ludicrous) Don't just be the person who is afraid of speaking up or being the first to take action.
7.) Discernment
--[ “Smart leaders believe only half of what they hear. Discerning leaders know which half to believe.” ~ John C. Maxwell
Effective leaders need discernment, although good leaders don't display it all the time.
What is discernment? The ability to judge well.
8.) Focus
--[ If you chase both rabbits they're going to escape. If you harness both concentration and priorities, great things can be accomplished. A leader who has priorities but lacks concentration will never get anything done. A leader who has concentration but lacks priorities, will have excellence without any progress.
9.) Generosity
--[ Put other people first. Regard money as a resource.
10.) Initiative
--[ Be the first to take action. Attack your goals. Push yourselves to take more risks. There will be mistakes, but you will learn from them and make less of them in the future.
11.) Listening
--[ “A good leader encourages followers to tell him what he needs to know, not what he wants to hear.” - John C. Maxwell
You have to be silent in order to listen. Both the words silent and listen are formed with the same letters.
12.) Passion
--[ “Concentrate on what you do well, and do it better than anybody else.” ~ John Schnatter
Don't have a purpose? Find your passion, and it will lead to a purpose.
13.) Positive Attitude
--[ Your attitude is a choice. Your attitude determines your actions. Your people are a mirror of your attitude. Maintaining a good attitude is easier than regaining one. If you were at a party, and there were two groups of people, one group just standing around talking, and another having a good time and laughing. Odds are, you're going to go over to the group that is having a good time.
14.) Problem Solving
--[ “You can measure a leader by the problems he tackles. He always looks for ones his own size.” ~John C. Maxwell
Keys/Qualities to good problem solving:
- Anticipation of problems. - Accepting of the truth. - Seeing the big picture. - Handles one problem at a time. - Don't give up when they hit a bump on the way to their goal.
15.) Relationships
--[ “The most important single ingredient in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people.” ~Theodore Roosevelt
16.) Responsibility
--[ If you won't carry the ball, you can't carry the team. Success on any major skill requires that you accept responsibility. You are responsible for your own actions. If you're an archer, and you miss the bulls eye, it is your own fault, not the targets.
17.) Security
--[ “No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself or get all the credit for doing it.” ~ Andrew Carnegie
Competence never compensates for insecurity.
18.) Self Discipline
--[ Without self discipline, success is impossible.
19.) Servant-hood
--[ To get ahead, put those below you first. Appeal to their best interests, concerns and problems.
20.) Teach-ability
--[ “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.” ~John Wooden
In order to keep leading, keep learning.
21.) Vision
--[ “A great leader’s courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position.” ~ John C. Maxwell
Vision sparks and fuels the fire. It is also the fire lighter for others who follow that leader.

| The only qualities a leader must possess is a vision of his goals and an unwavering desire to attain them. Others will follow a person so sure of themselves. |

@
sorry altair
i'm just taking most of this stuff out of the book John C. Maxwell wrote
sorry he doesn't live up to your standards/expectations
The term charisma (/kəˈrɪzmə/; pl. charismata, adj. charismatic) has two senses: (1) compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others, (2) a divinely conferred power or talent.[2] For some theological usages the term is rendered charism, with a meaning the same as sense 2.[3] Since the 1950s, the term has become widely used, with varying meanings, in religion, the social sciences, the media, and throughout Western societies. This article describes the theological and personality senses of the definition of charisma, the history of the term, and 21st century uses of both senses in particular sectors of society.

No
The points were good but you are to never expect anyone to have all those qualities at once. High expectations cause problems especially when they are absurd.

That is where goal setting comes in. Start off small, get some of these qualities in. Develop them. Then add more to it.
Repeat until god.

@NoR (ninjaofrobloxia)
Yeah, it's kind of hard to possess some of these when this is a game.
But you can still be a leader out of the game too.

As far as I know. I have all these qualities in abundance.
Not that any of you care or would listen to me if you even knew or cared that I did.
I have tackled on a whole every group I have ever gone to. I have never succeeded.
Don't even bothering mentioning self discipline. I have that. I just don't use it because everything I use it for that you care about goes against my better morals.
Why have I not succeeded? If I had to guess It would be because most leaders I have met are so dam terrible they could honestly not lead a mouse to cheese. *They actually prefer peanut butter* AKA blackpig72 leader of X legion.
Because the people who ARE Leaders in groups are actually mostly completely lacking in these characteristics. If this was a real group then half of them would be dead within a week and I would be running the group. But since the people who make the choices on whos a new leader IS ACTUALLY the bad leaders even higher up. It really comes down to whoever pleases them the most. Which has nothing to do with the goals of the group of the effectivity of the person chosen.
My style and my better instincts make me choose to make fools of the HRs any chance I get. If they make a mistake or do something wrong I cant help calling them out on it. It doesn't give me much of a reputation with the high ranks. *Stop thinking of this in just TGI. I have done this a lot elsewhere*
This isn't a drama page and im not here to argue about it or expect to be heard anyway.
I felt it appropriate to stat it here so unless you have a good point to make on this post, shut up and mind your own post.
