But then again, Soccer has been around for hundreds of years. Football has only been around since 1928.
And guess which championship gets the most money? The superbowl.
Not to mention that American Football is one of the most difficult sports ever created. Next to MMA and boxing, no sport requires you to exert that much energy and strength. It's a hard, and rewarding sport. Any normal soccer player who tries it would be crushed.
Soccer is a worldwide sport because its cheap to set up and play, that's it. It's not terribly exciting, and it's not terribly hard. All you need is 2 makeshift nets and a ball, and you can play it.
For football, you need several hundred dollars worth of equipment, and it takes a particular skill set that not everybody has. |

American football has more Armour than agincourt.
And has more breaks and stoppages than North Korean weapons. |

@Calidum
The several hundred pounds of equipment is due to wimpy Americans not like getting hurt.
Its not physically demanding, the balls only in play for 11 minutes compared to 80 in rugby. Superbowl also is less of a franchise than the world cup.
Compare it to rugby, the strength is minute. I mean, you get tackled, game stops. In rugby, you push others away, maul, and get hurt. |

| I respect soccer, because then again not every football player could play a soccer gave with out passing out. On the price thing you have a good point, but I play for school so it free. You can play without pads when you are just playing in yard. |

| In this the second annual Forbes list of the 10 highest-paying sporting events in the world, four of the top ten spots are occupied by soccer tournaments. No other sport comes close to its dominance. |

But rugby has limited tackling abilities.
And they don't emphasize lifting for training as much as in football.
In case you didn't realize, until about 1934 there was no requirements for pads for football. There were several deaths during this time period, and as a result, the pads came up.
Football players are bigger, and if you think that rugby requires more strength, you're naive and sheltered.
If you haven't played football before, don't rip on it, and don't say that it's a wimps sport. Without those pads, you are at an enormous risk of permanent, debilitating injury. And it is much harder than Rugby, or Soccer.
Trust me, I've played all 3 for years. I stopped playing soccer in 2011 because I couldn't split seasons between it and football, but I still play rugby on occasion.
If you've never played football, then you have no idea what you're talking about. |
