| Probably. Then AAA developers can make games with an actual visual style instead of trying to 1-up everyone in technical power every bloody game. |

Yes.
At that point, they will move onto higher FPS, and probably improving on lighting. Stuff like that. |

Ever heard of global illumination? It's AO on an overdose of steroids Actually, AO is a fake GI, GI is really just the simulation of bouncing of light, right now, there is no such thing as real time GI, we can create upto 8 samples per 5 mins(In a crap PC) or 64 samples on a 16 core machine. In the future, real time GI will probably be created, but then all we can do is just... keep increasing texture sizes and GI samples..... |
