Bubonic plague days.
Sneezing was a sign of you having the plague, the plague wiped out families within a week.
Someone said bless you if you sneezed to say "god bless your soul" because you were gonna die if you caught the plague.

Goes back to the middle ages when a sneeze could mean death and they were giving you a possible final blessing.
