| Actually it's more of "let's punish the people who aren't bullies for dumb things and give the real bullies another chance" |

| For me its more like, Have some motivational speaker show up. Give out free wrist bands, Then force everyone in school watch a video and answer questions later. Then teachers don't enforce anything and even bully students. |

| In my school, they tell you that if you say "That's !" and a person is insulted by that you can get arrested for bullying...I somehow doubt the validity of what they're telling us, but it's possible... |

Apparently the law basically says that if you single somebody out and say something nasty about them that you think is true or that is true you can get in trouble...
...it's pretty much designed to prevent students from being singled out and harassed, which puzzles me because there's either a part to the law that I overlooked or my school has been exaggerating...? |

Do you think my school's exaggerating? I mean, isn't it a little bit over the top to arrest somebody for something like that...?
When people use that term, they're using it loosely, and I don't think I've ever seen somebody who genuinely hates those kinds of people...?
I mean, I don't say those things, but I'm just curious about how limited everyone's freedom of speech has become... |

Then again, my school also said that "just joking" is not an excuse, so...
...I wonder how many people have actually gotten in trouble for the law...
I've never seen or heard of any happenings with it, which leads me to believe that you have to do something r-e-a-l-l-y mean to get in trouble for it...
In that case, the law is probably a necessity, since it prevents people from being hurt to the point where they don't want to go to school anymore...or live, even...
If the law was taken like the school described, I'm pretty sure everyone at my school would be locked up for one thing or another... |

I'm probably just recycling old things I've said through this huge rant I've conjured up...or is it a rant...?
I'm really not angry, I'm more...questioning...?
Suspicious, I guess...but not the negative suspicious, the curious suspicious... |

Really? How so?
My school system isn't that bad...it's probably a lot better than most... |

We couldn't talk while eating in the classroom
We couldn't talk in the halls while lining up for recess
I even got in trouble once for trying to defend myself

Ah, so many questions, nobody to answer them...
If I asked my school, I doubt they'd give me an answer, they'd probably just get mad at me for speculating what they've told me...
...hmm... |

Really? Was this elementary, middle, or high school?
I've always been allowed to talk while eating...that's a strange rule your school had...
I was never allowed to talk in the halls in elementary school...in middle school you technically aren't allowed to, but if you don't disrupt other classes you can probably get away with quiet conversation...I dunno about high school, haven't been yet... :')
Often times those who fight back and speak their minds get punished, but the school was probably just trying to teach you to respect those with a higher authority over you...
...I can get where you're coming at with the trying to defend yourself, though...
Ha, my elementary school gym teacher hated me...I mean, not to the point where I disliked school, but I got in trouble for doing very minor things many times, and often the punishments weren't what I'd typically expect to get... :')
I kinda laugh at it now, because when I got to middle school everything was perfect. |

Ew, that's gross! I've never encountered something like that, vandalism is taken very seriously in my school! Some 6th grade girl got in a L-O-T of trouble for writing in the girl's bathroom with Sharpie, although I understand why she got in trouble...defacing school property is a crime... |

For us it goes like this:
STEPS TO BULLY PREVENTION
1) Have an assembly on the first day of school about bullying and yada yada. It takes like 2 hours. 2) Have class meetings. Most people in this "class meeting" are actually the problem. And then they victimize themselves. Every. Single. Time. And everything that is supposed to be "confidential" is spread around about 2 hours to 2 days. It really depends. 3) Watch sad videos during said "class meetings" and answer worksheets about "why this wrong, what you can do to help" etc. etc. while not actually using the information. 4) When the bullying actually occurs (us being in high school, especially if its a guy to guy thing or a girl-to-girl thing) the teachers just ignore it. "tell a trusted adult" really doesn't work here now does it? "They're just playing around" is the excuse most teachers use. 5) Have your teacher in charge of above class meetings not actually get the point of anything and be like "they were just playing" 6) Do "team-building" exercises where basically no one does it right.
Yep, this bully thing seems to be working...totally! |

That was probably elementary school...
I'm not saying middle and high schools are perfect, but elementary school is the school with the least freedom and the most babying...
...oh, how I hated being babied... |
