Good day, IE, and C&G.
On August 5, 2013, I established IE as a new state, however, due to my preference for swords, it became a sword clan. Recently, I have been motivated to expand IE's spectrum into guns, however, the population of IE, or the majority of it, at least, prefers swords to guns, and I believe a change could pull IE off of its high-rise.
A couple weeks ago, I had IE answer a couple of polls.
Would you be comfortable with a slow transition to guns? 1. No. 34 votes (52%) 2. Yes, as long as we receive proper training and are ready. 27 votes (42%) 3. I wouldn't care. 4 votes (6%)
- - -
Would you leave IE if we switched from swords to guns? 1. No 19 votes (51%) 2. Yes 12 votes (32%) 3. No but I'd be inactive 6 votes (16%)
- - -
With the results, I have immensely reconsidered my thoughts of transitioning to a gun-based clan.
However, I believe that the stakes here are balanced. If we were to transition to a gun clan, even with the proper training, we'd lose a good amount of active members.
If we are to stay swords, however, we'd grow increasingly inactive, anyway. IE has fought or allied nearly all decent and well-structured sword clans. The amount of enemies we'll have left after our current war would be very small, and any other sword clans would either be far too easy or too inactive to fight us head on.
Many say that we should challenge our allies. I say no, because I do not want to risk the relationships I've made over the months just to keep IE alive.
Now, regardless of how the general population of IE feels about guns, I, on the other hand, am quite neutral, therefore this change would not impact me very much in the slightest.
I do feel that we could benefit from a transition, however IE cannot sustain the integrity of our regime without cooperation from the people. You.
Now, I can see why many of you dislike guns. It's not because you just hate the idea, it's because you aren't good with them or you are not up to date with how gunfighting is established in today's clan world.
But, as the poll said, a transition with coincide with proper training, and proper training for at least a month before transitioning.
What could IE gain? Many things, at that.
New allies, friends.
A broader variety of enemies and targets.
We could expand our influence.
We could advance, technologically, and implement new ideas that wouldn't fit with swords only clans.
-
One individual suggested that we could apply both, swords and guns, to our group by having two bases. I like this idea, because it will expand our spectrum to both, and create a comfortable zone for our exemplary sword fighters when they are needed.
I see nothing wrong with this idea, and I believe it is the most efficient way to transition without losing a good portion of our greatest members.
Regardless, the fact that you would leave because of a change, for the greater good, is also questionable to me. It provides me with the impression that a good portion of the members I see in IE are not loyal to the group.
IE's developers have already begun construction on a fort that would be developed based on on gun-based combat.
I'm not going to stop progression because of the stubborn population of IE and the fact that they're frightened of guns because they aren't a great gunfighter.
News flash, IE. We're a superclan. There is no selectivity, and no standards revolving around skill.
A majority of you are decent sword fighters, and there is no reason as to why you won't be able to adapt to gun fighting if you were able to learn how to basically sword fight.
So here is my proposal.
We will add a gun fort, and broaden our spectrum, but continue sword-based operations via an additional sword fort (Sylvanas) and continue with what available sword-based opponents exist, should any decent ones even come about.
I will be whipping up a poll soon to view your overall opinion so I know the statistics.
But for now, I want your thoughts here.

I will be more than happy to extend my knowledge of gunfighting tactics and abilities provided that we add some to the basic training center. People specifically avoid RCL trainings. We can give more to the lower ranks if we incorporate it into daily trainings.

Alex, I'll be adding RCL weapons to the lighting so that they may be distributed, and "Bastion" will become a gun mod.

I support this, after all I've been working on my gun fighting and it would be nice to be in more than one gun fighting clan.

slowly transition into guns but continue to keep swords, eventually when you think you've built up a strong base of gun fighters in the group then either create a base guns only and still have a sword base or just add a new base with guns + swords.

I'm fine with this. Used to be pretty awesome with guns until I started training swords only. No reason why we can't get good at something if we apply ourselves and put in the effort to learn.

I think that we should practice and train with guns until we are used to them so we can have our men prepared for battle and trained with guns so we can win.

@Data That is why we need to train with guns. So you can get good with them. You will learn soon how to use them and one day become an expert.

Although I am not a good gunfighter, I agree that with practice, we could all establish new skills in that area.
