[[Taken from BrokenPhilosophy, but true]]
People tend to think it is just the symptoms of a misfit, annoying or naturally rude person.
I have things that go on in my head that I cannot willingly control. I have very little to no control at all. Things that make absolutely no sense at all pop into my head and completely distract me from my work. I do things a normal person would not do. I say things that a normal person would not say. The thoughts fester in my mind to the point where if I do not take my pills I do stupid things, say stupid things and hurt my own family members with the things I say.
The only method I am given to control it is medication.
The medication for ADHD has a wide variety of effects. I often feel helpless or depressed. Alone, betrayed. I sometimes feel like someone is ignoring me because they have not replied within 10 minutes without the medication.
I often feel devoid of any emotions that are positive. I always feel negative emotions. I find it hard to smile and usually I am not happy while on the medication. But without it I am trapped in a body that has thoughts that are not my own.
I find it very depressing that I cannot be friends with some people because of times where I could barely control my own behavior. I look back on it and feel sad that I do not have those people as a friend.

as someone with adhd, i know it's hard
i, fortunately learned to control it
i adjusted my dosage to about 30 mg of adderall daily for about a week, then i took it every day and let me say that withdrawal sucks so be ready if you try this eventually after about a week of taking it every other day, i stopped the medication totally and i even felt much better after i pissed out all the amphetamines
get plenty of sleep too, and remember to think before you act i know it sounds cheesy and you probably hear it all the time but for gods sake think before you act and life will be much easier |

think for a while about what you could do to help control it
think for days if you need to, the first step to controlling it is figuring out HOW to control it, obviously

I know a guy with ADHD
Once he had a 20-minute laugh attack. It was so bad, the teacher kicked him out |

Thanks for the depressing aura.
And, yes, many people do see kids and sometimes adults affected by ADHD as naughty and misbehaved people, which is mostly true, but what they do not understand is the suffering and lack of choice to control themselves.
This isn't like psychopaths so mentally ill that it is almost irreversible, that have high tendencies to commit crimes and take lives, where they must be locked away or put down due to their mental illness, and that their psychotic behavior becomes a part of their identity, but the people affected by ADHD do not deserve the reputation the have.
I hear a lot of people talking negatively about people of ADHD without considering their suffering, which I find it injustice and irrational. |
