| probably wrong but priests are more suited to support roles, primarily healing, and mages are more offensive. |

| Depends what game you're playing, but usually priests will heal and mages will simply cast spells. |

Priests are spiritual in their magic. Devoting all their powers to good use to whatever religion they follow(Usually) It's usually healing magic, shields, things like that.
Mages don't usually worship something to get their powers, and are more of an offensive role(Although they can be support/defensive too). Mages are less religion, more power when it comes to magic.

priests generally use faith related powers(usually just healing) and aren't exactly offensive classes. mages usually use magic powers which are more offensive(and in some games they can learn healing things, making priests almost useless) |

priests typically use healing magic and possibly magic against undead mages usually take a more offensive role made to do direct damage

You can't spell priest.
Incorrect. I can spell preist but I purposely misspell their names so as to spite them. |

| Preists tend to be more healer and supporters, rather than offensive. Mages are typical damage-dealers. |

OK so priests gain their power from religion and use their powers to heal/protect.
Mages gain their powers from spell books and use their powers to attack. Is that right? |

divine magic can do stuff besides healing but that's one of its major purposes priests/clerics also specialize in fending off undead enemies
by the way i'm getting this from d&d, which is the roleplaying system that takes precedence over all other roleplaying systems |

also i think some priests will use a kind of ward or protection spell on their allies to prevent them from taking damage rather than healing them after they take damage
