There has been some concern regarding the ability of players to perform with the starting weapons, when pinned against most powerful late-game weapons. Claims have been made that it's impossible to unlock better weapons since you start with a Mosin and a Makarov, and come to battle against MP5s and CZ75s.
There are many things we plan to implement that will allow the player to earn points regardless of what weapon they have. These additions will make the initial grind much more fun and engaging.
-Gamemodes- Capture the Flag is one gamemode that will reward the player bonus points for picking up the enemy flag, delivering the enemy flag, and dealing damage/killing an enemy flag carrier.
Territories, as well as King of the Hill, will reward the player for attempting to capture, and successfully capturing the objective territories.
Juggernaut will pit the entire game against one player, giving individual players a better chance to deal damage to the Juggernaut since he won't be able to focus on everyone.
-Gameplay- Currently, the player will earn 100 points for completing a kill. To complement that, we're going to implement "assists". Soon, players will earn 50 points if someone else killed an enemy the player had damaged.
-Passes/Robux- The Apocalypse Games will feature a "premium" that will reward the player with more points for everything they do. This simply accelerates their progression.
-Strategy- The M14 and the Mosin are the most accurate guns in the game. The fact is that the Mosin Nagant is just as accurate as the M14. Utilizing this obvious advantage is how you excel in the beginning of the Apocalypse Games. Secondarily, you have your trusty Makarov, which fires as fast as you can click. Understand that some players believe the Makarov is over-powered as a starting weapon in Apocalypse Rising. It is perfectly capable of dealing damage at close range, and is far more effective than the Mosin from spitting distance.
-Conclusion- Regardless of what weapons you have, the game will soon have plenty of options that will enable the player to earn points by other means than dealing damage. In the mean time, smart players actually prefer the starting weapons over some of the others in the early stages - because they use them effectively.
Keep an eye out for more updates, and lay off the "this is the worst game ever" comments until the game is complete. |

What? No word on the (DB) shotgun and its brethren? ;_;
Those are most underpowered guns in both Apocalypse Rising and Apocalypse Games, I'm quite aware that they yield massive damage, but the lack of spread, RoF, as well as effective range makes them very unpopular choices for load-outs, while even the humble sub-machine gun can severely prune shotgun users regardless of range or elevation.
I request a buff for all shotguns, one way or another.
Though, I'm happy for new game modes, kill assists (yes...), and such. But the lack of any word of shotguns disappoints me. :/ |

| The DB shotgun kills in two headshots if all shots connect. |

@Chase
Most military grade weapons can kill in 2 seconds or less, regardless of the body part you are aiming at. |

| I don't buy a new gun until I unlock the Fed, so I use the mosin and makarov for quite a few rounds. |

What tommy said. If you REALLY can't work with the Mak and Mosin, find somewhere to hide and wait about 30 seconds or so and start looking for a new weapon to look quickly and use that.
It's dangerous and risky but do-able. I know I've been able to do it and excel with picked-up guns.

| Other guns aren't difficult to get. I did fine with a Makarov and once in a while looting the guns off of corpses, as long as you are quick enough you should be fine. The "Over-Powered Weapons" can be a problem for those who are used to the "spray and prey" method though |

My only problem is that I feel like there is a stacking effect on the guns. I can do fine with the Mosin and Makarov, and that is almost regardless of the problem. I feel like there is way more demand for the top-tier weapons and there is a "stacking effect" in place; when people get a new gun, they throw away the old gun and grind for a better gun.
I made a forum post about it, and how I think this could be combated, but in summary, I think the guns should be almost equal in stats - where you may lose RoF but gain damage, or accuracy - but you have a greater range of attachments that almost change the gun to something completely personal. High-tier weapons will allow for more attachments so that people don't only upgrade the starting weapons.
If anyone is interested in the post I made, here is the link: http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=131051201
I love the game though, and I cant wait to see the finished product. |
