| if you're not going to crank up the settings, aim for a laptop with an Intel HD 3000 or 4000 |

A laptop for 200-300 won't play many games at all. Sorry.
CPU: AMD A6-5400K 3.6GHz Dual-Core Processor ($54.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI A55M-E33 Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($39.99 @ Micro Center) Memory: Patriot Viper 3 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($30.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital AV-GP 500GB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($43.95 @ Amazon) Case: Sentey CS1-1398 PLUS ATX Mid Tower Case ($19.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($19.99 @ Newegg) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($89.98 @ OutletPC) Total: $299.88
That would be a barebones MC system meant for 720p gaming. |

PoniSpai's build is pretty decent imo
in all honesty, the most you'll get out of 300 dollars is a laptop with like 256mb shared memory.
if your friend isn't going to carry the laptop around, tell him to get a desktop. preferrably with specs suggested by PoniSpai. |

Dude My laptop runs Mc with around 8-10 chunk distance and high graphics quality at 30-60FPS in my world with default terrain, and usually on those settings flatware runs at a constant 55-60FPS... But that laptop is still weak... But WAY too expensive for ur budget |
