It's a major component of steampunk.
Here's crazy's exact post: "-Victorian, which is set in medieval times, and is pretty much about flying pirate ships, and most stories are set in the years between 1500 to 1700."
so yeah, lol |

steampunk is any era with primary power by steam
Victorian is a popular subset so I see why you'd be confused |

are you an idiot?
Victorian Steampunk revolves around the Victorian Era in real life however, now it revolved around airships, floating isles, fancy buildings, etc.
I got the years wrong i'll admit that but I was accurate on everything else. |

it doesn't matter when it became available because it's fiction and writers can do what they want |

"you're an idiot"
That's most likely the most overly used insult in history. Try something more original, k? k. |

Crazy, science fiction is classified as something not true that could potentially be true because it conforms to the laws of physics, etc. In most cases, this is true with steampunk.
I know that some steampunk is really out there with like AI automatons, but a lot of the time steampunk conforms to the laws of physics. |
