4/11/2014/ Version 1.0
This is the official guide to all canon within the authority of the Dominion of Terra as sanctioned by the Emperor and written by myself.
Please note the following should be considered solely on a Role-play basis and will have no particularly adverse effect on the functioning of the Empire.
Glory to Terra.
- Rahvin Pelagius Sycorax
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[TERRA]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Terra is a post-cataclysm Earth tens of thousands of years in the future. Following an unrecorded disaster human civilization broke down casting the planet into a several millennium dark age from which virtually no records survive to the present day.
Eventually, what remained of the human race was re-united by a charismatic cult lead by a mysterious individual only referred to as "The Emperor". The planet was re-christened "Terra", and several thousand years in the future a new united human Empire has almost totally urbanized the planet as well as successfully colonized most of the solar system under the iron will of the autocratic Imperial government.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[THE EMPEROR]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
No one is exactly sure of the details of the Emperor's existence. He has stood as the soul ultimate authority in the Empire for as far back as imperial records go. Though he issues frequent speeches from his citadel in New Rome and is depicted in numerous propaganda very few people have ever actually seen him in person.
He is revered as an almost god-like figure by Terran society and is believed to be both thousands of years old as well as to possess certain supernatural powers; rumors the government has done little to dissuade.
It is believed that likely the only solid information about the Emperor is kept within the tight inner-circle of the Emperor's high command.
( Note: Certain lore information regarding the Emperor is kept within the High Command.)
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[CORE WORLDS]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The most heavily colonized and urbanely developed planets in the solar system with Terra are referred to as the "Core worlds". This particular sector of space is protected at all times by about 1/4th of the Terran armada, who bar passage to all vassals of the Empire not born on the core worlds.
Very little information is made publically available about what lies within the core worlds outside of themselves; and they are as much a mystery to the Dominion's enemies as they are to the outer colonies of the Empire itself.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[NEO-LATIN]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The imperial language of the Dominion is officially Neo-Latin: a reconstituted modern form of an ancient dead language which surprisingly managed to survive the dark ages (supposedly under the protection of the original Imperial Cult itself).
Neo-Latin has been formally educated to all citizens within the core worlds, as well as less strictly in the outer colonies. It is the most widely spoken tongue in the Empire, and all formal documents are required to be issued in it by imperial law.
One of the only other languages to survive the mass re-education of the Dominion is a fragmented form of middle-English which is still spoken by some peasants in isolated parts of Terra today. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[NEW ROME]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
New Rome is the pinnacle of urban development on Terra and the designated Capitol city of both the planet itself and the Empire.
Supposedly named after an ancient city from long before the Dark Ages, New Rome stands as one of the most shining bastions of Terran Architecture in the Dominion as well as host of the infamous and mysterious Imperial Citadel to which few are ever granted access.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[TERRANS (SPECIES)]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Terrans are one of the most enduring and virulent sentient races in the Galaxy.
Tempered by a ten thousand year Dark Age on their planet; Terrans have now spread across most of the known galaxy colonizing new worlds and spreading the might of the Empire to furthest sectors of space.
Near physiologically identical to their original species the Humans, they have however undergone subtle evolutionary changes over the course of their existence that has made them both more hardy and intelligent of a species.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[RELIGION]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Though there are numerous cults and petty false deities to have survived the Dark Age that are still recognized either in private or isolation on Terra today.
However the primary religious movement in the Dominion is the veneration of the Emperor as a God.
It is estimated that about 93% of the Dominion and it's vassals practice either orthodox or some variation of Imperial Worship. Shrines, and trinkets depicting the Emperor's likeness as a means of protection and praise are common place.
The largest non-Imperial religion to survive in the Dominion is an old and evil cult founded in the Dark Age which venerates certain primordial gods and horrors.
The exact details of the cult are unknown and they are widely believed to be rumor or superstition. How the cult has managed to survive consequent purges and the mass re-education performed by the Dominion is unknown.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[HIGH LORDS OF TERRA]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Second only to the Emperor and Rahvin Sycorax the High Lords of Terra constitute the largest and most powerful governing body in the Dominion.
Composing the only surviving nobility on Terra, the High Lords are the most renowned and powerful singular individuals in the Empire.
Apposing their will is an imperial crime and they are considered to be above most laws of the Dominion. Insulting a High Lord is typically considered borderline heresy for both their nobility and their special connection to the Emperor himself.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[HERESY]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Heresy is what is to be considered the highest criminal offense within Imperial territory.
What heresy constitutes of is anything to be contradicting to the Emperor's will, the veneration of false gods, treason, and blasphemy or slander spoken against the Dominion, it's beliefs, or the Emperor himself.
To be branded a Heretic within the Dominion almost assuredly carries the penalty of the death sentence.
That is after the Inquisitors are finished with you.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[CITIZENSHIP]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
There are three distinct classes of citizenship in the Empire which dictate an individuals rights, privileges, and social status in a rigid caste-like system.
CLASS I - Imperial: This is the most high and honorable class of citizenship in the Empire reserved specifically for Terra-born citizens who are the most expertly trained, well cultured, and devout vassals of the Dominion.
CLASS II - Federal: This class is contains the upright Emperor-fearing citizens that inhabit the colonized planets of the inner core. Considered to be something of the Dominion's middle class; federal citizens are endowed with all fundamental humans rights and are considered dutiful vassals of the Empire as well.
CLASS III - FEUDAL: This class is designated for those Terrans born on colonized planets outside the Core Worlds. Though considered less important and much less educated members of the Dominion, they are still regarded as a very industrious and loyal peasant class.
NULL-CLASS - SLAVE: This is the imperial designation for inhabitants of enslaved worlds as well as members of non-Terran species controlled by the Dominion. They have very basic human rights and constitute a large labor force in the Dominion. Near human species such as Vaktovians and Arcadians that have been assimilated by the Empire are subject to this class as well.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬[BURIAL RIGHTS]▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
It is tradition within the Dominion to be buried in one of several vast underground tombs on Terra at a private ceremony for relatives and friends officiated by an Imperial priest.
Most federal class citizens from the outer core in fact often request to be shipped to Terra to be buried there as were their ancestors.
At a burial, loved ones pay their respects to the departed and the deceased is blessed in the name of the Emperor by a priest. After everyone has said their goodbyes a sarcophagus containing the corpse is hermetically sealed along side thousands of others next to it where it will rest peacefully for eternity: perfectly preserved.

>Near human species such as Vaktovians and Arcadians that have been assimilated by the Empire are subject to this class as well.
Okay, first of all, Vaktovians are almost entirely mechanical (save for their brains which are the only organic component of their bodies), so they aren't even close to human or humanoid in that manner.
And if Arcadians are "assimilated" into this false Imperium of yours, then it seems we'll have to liberate them. >:3 |

As much as I despise those toasters they'd torch every single one of your worlds.
And you're the heretic, heretic. |

Hey Inysa, why'd you leave TGI? I was hoping you'd make it a lot better than it was.

I left because nobody seemed to care and all my screaming accomplished nothing but a single mass message from Tober to the officers of one my rants of all that's wrong when I was a Harbinger.

Also, that's unfortunate to hear Inysa. You should come join DoT, it would be nice to have a good leader like you.
