Here's example from Switzerland:
In the 1990s pacifists and the political left tried - and failed - to block the purchase of new fighter jets for the Swiss Air Force. Twenty years on they have taken aim again, challenging a parliamentary decision to buy 22 Swedish Gripen aircraft.On May 18 voters have the final say on defence ministry plans to spend CHF3.1 billion ($3.5 billion) over the next decade to acquire JAS-39 lightweight fighter aircraft from aerospace manufacturer Saab.
The jets, still in development, would replace the ageing fleet of F-5 Tiger jets and help protect the Swiss airspace up to the year 2050. The outcome of the ballot should end ten years of technical evaluation and political debate over what would be a partial renewal of the Swiss Air Force fleet. Last September both chambers of parliament finally gave the purchase the green light, despite opposition by the left and a small centrist party. An alliance of the Social Democrats, the Greens and the smaller Liberal Greens – as well as the Switzerland without an Army pacifist group then launched a referendum on the issue, collecting about 66,000 signatures, enough to bring it to a nationwide vote.
How should a normal person know if the Gripej is the right Jet for the Swiss Air Force. If the Air Force sais they need those airplanes you gotta believe them.

It does work. But, that doesn't say it has its flaws.

>How should normal people know the things the vote for? By being educated about it, forming an own opinion, hearing out other opinions, doing research.
:If multiple experts say that the country neess a certain thing then they should accept that ot shut up. They don't. They can still look into things themselves. If they bluntly listening to what them is told, then it's THEIR fault.

I choose the Gripen as an example because I actually know things about it since I work (and yes i do work i am older than the average roblox user) in a company that will build major system components for the Gripen.
I hear a lot of lies about the Gripen every day.
You can not form an actual opinion if the media is not neutral. |

"i loled when you said that USAs political system works"
Well elections worked everytime. The passing/rejection of bills worked every time. And no government branch has more power over each other. So it does work. |

I agree, but that is why you should always check multiple media. But, then, what if all media say the same? Should you mindlessly agree? I don't think so, but if multiple scources agree, then certainly it isn't a bad thing. And with multiple scources, I do not mean multiple scources from the same country, but multiple scources from multiple countries.

| There is not one country that has ever beaten the U.S. in terms of freedom and government with a different system and I do not care what you say. And the Switzerland example is irrelevant. |

@Super
Yeah because shut downs make a country work.
@Myrco
I do agree, most people that actually try to build up an actual opinion vote for the Gripen.
However you have way to many of those socialist idiots, who hear the word "war" and are already against it.
I am really sorry for my terrible english. I do try my best, but I seem to fail. |

Unfortunately, media seems to have a leftist slant (at least here in the US.) Aside from outlets like Fox News, most of the media is in some way left-leaning. Sometimes it's barely noticeable, but other times (like MSNBC) it's very noticeable.
Your best bet is to use objective, unbiased, and nonpartisan media. Even then, it's important to have a wide variety of sources because sometimes they slip up.
Some reputable sources include the Heritage Foundation, Forbes, Business Insider, perhaps Al Jazeera and the BBC, Cato Institute, etc.

A lot of people (to my experience) complain about the news in the US not being objective (enough). :/ A little while back, the news said that the US is positioned 31th on the journalistical freedom list. That's probably not the right word, but it's about the new's indepence from the state, how much freedom journalists have, and related things.

It's a very broad term, capitalist. But yes, I am. I think a more accurate/specific term would be "laissez faire capitalist" or "libertarian." I guess in Swiss terms, that would make me a supporter of the FDP Liberals? |
