Fundamentalist parents are a good breeding ground for rebellion. They are strict, overbearing and shut the world out from their children. They think Satan is going to possess their children through media such as popular music, video games and television programs that are not Duck Dynasty. Because of this, their only outlet is usually the Internet. |

"My parents and I are Christian. They're not strict for the most part, nor overbearing.
You're just pulling things out of your behind."
because everyone else's experience is exactly like yours right |

There is a pretty big bucketful of them. But not as many as non-Christians would believe.
If anything, Christian parents would be more willing to let their children make new friends and whatnot; almost every serious Christian I know is the polar opposite of a Fundamentalist.
Including my own. |

I'm a Christian, but my parents aren't like that. Pretty much the only thing is I can't listen to music with swearing in it.
I had a friend who's parents were though. She was completely sheltered, it was really sad. |

Everyone is wrong here. Most Christian parents aren't overprotective but still pretty belief-enforcing.

| The situation you describe most certainly apply to every atheist on the internet, and certainly not most of them. |

Little tip: using gigantic generalizations (basically, strawman arguments) of an opponent's argument in a debate will get you shunned from any argument in a heartbeat. If you cannot dissect a person's argument and attack it at its core, WITHOUT RE-WORDING HIS OWN SENTENCES IN YOUR LIKENESS, then you shouldn't be trying to debate at all. |

For the most part, I agree with the OP.
I don't 'rebel' though.
I'm an atheist, I pretend to be a Christian around my parents in fear of how they'd react.

If they're anywhere near being good Christians, they won't shun you if you bring it on gently. Quite honestly, I would tell them. But hey, your choice. |

"Little tip:" wow so intellectual "using gigantic generalizations (basically, strawman arguments)" yeah I wasn't really thinking very well, but my point still stands " of an opponent's argument in a debate will get you shunned from any argument in a heartbeat." suddenly an argumentive expert " If you cannot dissect a person's argument and attack it at its core," what more can be said about that "WITHOUT RE-WORDING HIS OWN SENTENCES IN YOUR LIKENESS," I really don't care much so I'm not bothering to do anything besides that I easily could " then you shouldn't be trying to debate at all." wow you're do smart I should listen to you |

"All I'm saying is there are a select few fundamentalist Christian parents who are like this."
really? mine are, and they're quite average
i'm sure you can find tons of people on the internet with similar parents
also, reexamine whether your parents really are as great as you think they are
think about what their reaction would be if you announced to them that you'd changed your faith, or, a more likely scenario for you, if you started exposing yourself to media they don't like |
