Since Tangled was released three years ago and Elsa’s parents died in a shipwreck three years before her coronation, the theory suggests that Elsa’s parents died on their way to Rapunzel and Eugene’s wedding. (Given that Rapunzel and Eugene are able to attend the Arendelle coronation, the two countries can’t be that far away from each other.)
Taking things one step further, the theory suggests The Little Mermaid is mixed up in all this as well. Frozen is set in Norway and Tangled is set in Germany, so the shipwreck might have occurred halfway between the two countries—in Denmark. And Denmark just happens to be (apparently) the setting for The Little Mermaid, which means the shipwreck Ariel explores at the beginning of the film might be the same shipwreck that killed Elsa’s parents.

| The Little Mermaid was written decades ago, and Frozen is based off of a book, I highly doubt those two go together, although I could see how these theories could go together. Your conspiracy is unoriginal though, you just got some copypasta off another site. All theories you can think of are probably already on /r/frozen or /tv/ |

Oh the silly things people come up with just because the animators decided to be cute and put in a little cameo from a previous movie..
I've seen this theory floating around and it's definitely interesting, but I don't think they planned out Frozen as early as 1989, when The Little Mermaid was made. |

@corgi Although this in particular seems a bit too complex they can always make it up as they go along.

| To be fair, they probably did link it, just not far back as The Little Mermaid. Agreed with above ^ they probably just made it up as they went along. |

I've seen this theory floating around, and I'm sorry to say that there is a big flaw, namely: the shipwreck that Ariel explores looks completely different from the Arendelle Royal Barquentine.
Now I'm not going to comment on whether or not they take place in the same universe, but I will say that you cannot use that shipwreck scene to establish a connection. |

Frozen is mediocre... Un-deserved box office earnings
Storyline is bullsh!t..it's like twilight Nothing good about Frozen Just another typical love-family story animated movie
Full of cliches
By the way..they have no originality Copied Let It Go from Gravity
Gravity started productions since 2007..filming started 2010 and guess what Frozen was started in 2010 not earlier than gravity..so don't think FROZEN is so AWESOME and ORIGINALITY
Don't try to define me fanboys/fangirls |

| The shipwreck explored in The Little Mermaid is definitely more... cartoonish I guess, and it only had one mast, not two. |

Well, it looks like the Little Mermaid shipwreck actually has three masts, with the fore and mizzenmasts partially destroyed. The boat that the King and Queen of Arendelle make their final voyage in is rigged as a barquentine*, which is a three-masted rig with square sails on the foremast and fore-and-aft sails on the main and mizzen masts.
Now here's where it begins to unravel: the mainmast on the Little Mermaid shipwreck has a yard running crosswise at the top, implying that it was rigged with square sails. However the Arendelle Royal Barquentine has no square sails on its mainmast. In addition, the bows of both ships are quite different; the Little Mermaid shipwreck has a raised foredeck, which is something the Royal Barquentine lacks. The figureheads are also different. Finally, the aftercastles: the Little Mermaid shipwreck has three lanterns at the back, and the sides of the cabin are relatively straight, while the Royal Barquentine has two lanterns and sloped roof structures on its cabin. From the preponderance of evidence we can conclude that they are, in fact, different ships.
*Per the art created by Cory Loftis for the movie, which matches perfectly with what is briefly seen in 'Do you want to build a snowman?' |

I saw this on 9GAG. :P
It is interesting, but I highly doubt little mermaid has anything to do with this. |
