"Rome is easily superior."
the mongols and the chinese will disagree big time with that statement.

the mongol's easily conquered far more than rome ever did and in less than a hundred years. you should see the amount of land they had in 1279, and tell me if rome's superior then.
china is easily the most technological advanced empire. like that guy said earlier, without them, we wouldn't have 21st century warfare, or paper money for that fact. and with the armies at their disposal, they could've easily taken over europe if they tried. |

rome's innovations were in warfare (even then they did not perfect it) and even then i think most of the modern forms is based on napolean and other people technologically the groundwork had already been set by the greeks egyptians and other forerunners

Land doesn't mean superiority. Rome conquered carthage among other powerful nations. The Mongols conquered uninhabited wilderness

Debatable. I believe the ideas, inventions and militaristic advancements made by the Romans outshines the Mongols. |

i didn't know persia was uninhabited. i didn't know eastern europe was uninhabited either.

in terms of tactics, genghis khan far bests any roman leader. and i said the chinese made better inventions and militaristic advancements, not the mongols. the mongols just fought until they died or conquered.

@Mage, the Mongols secured China, I think that was habited, as was Southern Russia, most of Asia, a lot of Persia and Eastern Europe, it's not like they want through an empty field and said "WOOO MASSIVE EMPIRE"
My favourite ancient civilization would have to be the Babylonian Empire. |

Yes! They used cats as guard of keys too. They gave a cat a key and if a person trys to steal the key, the cat would bite!

@Harlequin Yes of course because Maya really was ancient when it was formed in just after 800 AD.
Anyway, my favourite is probably Minoa because of it's power, it was limited to Crete and even though it was limited to Crete, it was one of the strongest civilizations of the ancient world due to the terror created by Minos. |
