yes actually it's kind of like learning spanish some of the words are close to the english meanings |

actually, the "yo" sound is just ë
in printed things there are two dots over the e but in plain writing it is omitted due to common knowledge of the language

however yogurt is still spelled йо..
well it's better than how english does things
and it's way easier to speak it than to write it due to the little sounds like ы, ь, э, х, й, ъ |

my only advice is to take it slow and watch russian tv streams, movies, and songs (with subtitles if needed) to help you pick up words and meanings
also the grammar part might be too hard in the beginning so if need be then completely forget about it learn as much as you can before making yourself sound proper
however that's just how i do it, and you may learn in a totally different way |
