Dragons are elusive creatures, and you've probably never seen a real one. That is why it's important to read this guide to dragons and exactly what they are like.

Kᴇʏ Aɴᴀᴛᴏᴍʏ All dragons have four legs (the only exceptions are Wyverns and Wyvern crossbreeds), two wings and a tail. They're cold-blooded reptiles, meaning they are most active on hot days and don't produce their own heat, and they're also carnivores. Their bodies are covered in scales, which can differ greatly in shape and size depending on breeds and genetics. Dragons can also have exotic colours and patterns. There are many different types of tail, as well; Arrow tails, mace-end tails and pointed tails are all common types.
Gʀᴏᴡɪɴɢ Uᴘ Dragons aren't born live. Their mothers lay their eggs, and after about a moon and a quarter, the eggs hatch into hatchlings (this can differ too, of course). It takes dragons around seven moons to reach a stage at which they are mature enough to start hunting and fighting. Dragons don't fully mature until they are two years old, but even dragons younger than this can become full chore workers. Dragons gain the ability to reproduce at a year and a half of age.
Sɪᴢᴇ There is a lot of variation in size, because dragons come in so many different forms, but the average dragon is about the same size as a border collie dog. The largest dragons can be up to twice this size, while the smallest can be just half of this. Size depends on a dragon's breed and genetics.

Bʀᴇᴇᴅs -
Dragons come in lots of different breeds, so many even that not all are given names. Below is a list of the most distinct breeds along with a brief description of each one:
Tᴜsᴋᴇᴅ > Large dragons with very long canine teeth that stick out of their mouths.
Tᴡᴏ-Tᴏᴇᴅ > Medium-sized dragons with just two toes on each foot. They find it particularly hard to do work that requires dexterity.
Wʏᴠᴇʀɴs > Small-ish dragons with no front legs. Their wings have toes at the wrist, and they walk on their hind legs. Their hind toes are very dexterous.
Sᴇʀᴘᴇɴᴛs > Very long, thin and short dragons. They are extremely fast.
Lᴀᴋᴇ Dᴡᴇʟʟᴇʀs > Medium-sized dragons with frills covering their bodies. They have fish-like tails and webbed feet, which makes them excellent swimmers. Although they can't breathe underwater, they can hold their breath for a maximum of about three hours.
Sᴘɪɴᴇᴅ > Dragons of varying sizes whose scales are long and pointed, giving them the appearance of being covered in spikes.
Cʀᴏssʙʀᴇᴇᴅs > Dragons that have a mix of characteristics from more than one breed. Crossbreeds occur when dragons of different breeds lay eggs together. A completely pure-breed dragon is very rare, though most fit well into one breed more than any other.
