Like if a bad astronomic event occured such as a large meteor crashing into the Moon knocking it out of orbit, or Mars or some other distant planet moves too close to us, mostly the moon coming to close and effecting our tides and possibly causing natural disasters like Hurricanes, Tornados etc. I have and have thought some time on it, In reality I'd be terrified. Although I'm not as terrified for nuclear war ending of the world, I'd be more terrified of a Astronomic disaster as we can do something about a nuclear war. It would be extremely difficult to fix a Astronomic Disaster. Well, I'd like some replies and pardon for some spelling/grammar mistakes,

Not afraid of the Nukes? I'd rather be blown into oblivion by a meteor without even realizing what happened than die of nuclear fallout.

You see, Nuclear Wars can be fixed. Astronomical Disasters would be much harder to fix in event of natural disasters, Building a rocket in event of looting and disaster would be hard.

Nuclear wars can't be fixed. The fallout can ruin the planet and make it impossible for humans to live, if enough bombs go off.

Ah, indeed.. But if the moon was knocked out of orbit you'd have to see the planet fall apart along with knowing your family is in a unsafe place and you have no way to get to them. That is what I fear, I don't fear Nuclear fallout.

"But if the moon was knocked out of orbit you'd have to see the planet fall apart"
This is the #1 way I would want to die. Have the moon fall on me, such an awesome way to die. Nuclear fallout though, hiding and waiting for it to get to me... |

See, that is why I am terrified of it. The moon wouldn't come down to earth and crash on us. It was ruin the orbit of the moon and it would come much closer to the earth and become very large, Therefore watching around as everything is lifted into the air and destroyed, (Lightning would become stronger resulting in major fires). And Hurricanes and Tornados would become constant,

The moon actually moves a few centimeters further away from the Earth every year.

@Ne, I know so. But if something of equal size (Unknown Meteor) came at the same speed and knocked the moon it could result into this. (New York and most islands would be destroyed, or submerged under water)

An asteroid that big would have to be way too big to even consider. If the moon is pushed off course, it goes into a more eccentric orbit, which could cause problems, but otherwise not much changes.

Cat, my father studies this as a Astronomer, It's possible. Although bigger asteroids/meteors have not been found, the event of one hitting the moon is possible and I study the effects it could take on. I know what I'm talking about,
